Well I finally found a car that met my (fairly specific requirements) that was in budget. Picked it up this week.

Its an 05 330i SE, with:

Dakota Leather Electric Sports Seats
Sports Suspension
Convenient Access
18" wheels with brand new pilot sport PS2's all round
95k miles with full BMW history

Very happy so far - the runflats seem ok given the slating they seem to get. Ride quality and noise levels are excellent. Performance isn't neck-snappingly quick but it does sound quite nice :D

First and only modification needs to be an m-sport gear stick I think, as the current one is a bit on the tall side.

Lovely car blun. However, showing your reg plate date in photos is very much frowned on around here, just so you know ;).

The leather seats look extremely good.

Convenient access is basically keyless entry, and you can keep the key in your pocket and just press the start button.

Just driven it in the dark for the first time- the xenons are great.

Also has the *optional* split folding rear seats (steady on BMW!)

It was £10k

Crikey, these are no slouches either, are they - very nice, and very nice price.

Makes me think twice about spending only £2.5k less on a 7 year old E46 330.

SE's are very unloved on the used market especially in the larger engine sizes. You pay a big premium for a Sport model, and ironically you are more likely to get a tidy SE than a tidy M Sport given the ownership profiles.

Very true. The only thing I hated with the SE was the standard seats, which BMW seem to have made as 'un-sporty' as possible.

This one was spot on as it had the seats I wanted, plus the suspension was a bonus.

Also appears to have been extremely well cared for, apart from a few scuffs on the alloys.
