I recently ordered the following build despite learning that as of the end of March I will be out of work.
*OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 930 2.80GHz @ 4.00GHz / Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Motherboard / Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel DDR3 Bundle
Corsair H50-1 High-Performance CPU Watercooler
Corsair Obsidian 800D Full Tower Case with Additional Solid Side Panel
Corsair HX 1000W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit - OEM
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache
Logitech G11 Gaming Keyboard
Sony Optiarc AD-7241S 24x DVDąRW SATA Lightscribe Optical Drive
This after just returning from an 8 month overseas assignment. I shouldn't be spending this money, I'm going to be unemployed and I've used all my savings and more on home improvements carried out whilst I was away.
For a long time I had my heart set on a new PC upon my return and decided I would not let current circumstances stop me. Besides, what could be better to cheer me up than to arrive back and have a new PC waiting for me?
Well that was the idea, but my luck isn't too good at the moment.
When the case arrived it was the windowed version rather than the solid panel I asked for.
I sent a webnote. The reply informed me the side panel was out of stock, so just the windowed one was sent to avoid delay to my order. I checked the website. Panel was back in stock that day. A quick call and they were good as gold. A solid side panel was couried to me on next day delivery.
I got to work building the PC, trying like mad to gain stability with the i7 930 Overclocked Bundle. At the same time Windows 7 twice reports the Samsung HDD may be faulty.
By Friday and after 4 calls to Support temps were still too high (87-89C). It was agreed everything had been tried and perhaps the H50 Cooler is faulty. I'm sure Overclockers check the bundles before sending them out, but not with the supplied cooler as my one was brand new still boxed. RMA number was emailed to me just as BBC2 drops onto my doormat. I look at my Mesh 2400 Anthlon PC and realise quickly I won’t be playing that this weekend.
..... Nevermind Baldur's Gate Compilation came the other day.. No eye candy, but that would have to do.
Anyway, the side panel had arrived on Thursday packaged well, but when I opened it I noticed there was a problem with the black powdered coating on one corner. The paint had flaked off. When I ran my finger across it some more came off.....
To make things worse, neither the window panel nor the solid panel will click in correctly at the top of the case once the bottom has been slotted in.
When the top right hand side clicks into place, the left hand side comes ajar.
Pressing in the left hand side only results in the opposite problem – the right hand side popping out. It’s seems there is a manufacturing fault of some kind, possibly with the top rail in the case, with the notches on.
The same problem was raised on the Corsair forum:

I called support on Friday morning and followed up with a webnote as requested yesterday lunch time, including all the above info and additional pics.
I was hoping Overclockers would send me a replacement and arrange a collection ASAP. However to my disappointment, just before the store closed the reply came advising me to take it up directly with Corsair.
It was last thing on Friday so I just send a webnote to Corsair, which I guess they won’t be looking at until Monday.
Anyone know what their support is like? Here's hoping they have the same reputation as NEC or Logitech.
Has anyone had any similar problems? If so, how did it get resolved? It's a bit of a bummer to spend over £200 on a case and this happens.
Right, I'm off on the 20 minute trek to the Post Office to return the motherboard bundle.
