My situation changes a lot, therefore so does my "income". Therefore so do my tastes needs and wants.

Anyway where does it say that if someone statistically changes there mind often that they are a moron ?

Just because your happy with the same car all the time doesnt mean anyone else is.

If you prefer I could make a new username every time i make a new thread ? That way there would be no abuse but I would be doing the same thing.

As for all these idiots posting, they seem to lick your arse, I wonder why ?

And if you look at the posts neutrally, all the bmw owners have the same personal opinions of people. Which is why its so easy to wind you all up.

My car is an SE with no service history and hasnt been looked after.

For the price of a mint interior in leather (1k) i can sell mine and add money to buy a highline thats newer has done less mileage etc.

I dont want a 99 A4 so why should I buy one just cos you paid less. You didnt say what condition, mileage etc it was in.

Anyway no one has actually answered the question, just 27 replies full of **** but what else can you expect here ?
I find it hard to believe you'll get £4k for an unmaintained car with no service history.

I recommended you consider an A4 over a Passat for exactly the reasons I stated - you can get a better car for less money. I did state the mileage (100k), which is nothing for these motors, and condition is very good except needing a service, which I do myself anyway. Fair enough if you don't want one. Back to the point though, if you're driving while tired then the only thing a dull automatic car will do is help you fall asleep quicker.

Err, what? In similar bout of pointlessness, Our A4 cost a QUARTER of what you roughly say you paid. The same shape and only 3 years older too :p.
Good for you :p. I was specifically after a facelift 2.8 30V though, so it had to be a 98 or newer, and I reckon I paid around the going rate.

Not exactly like for like is it? He's got a car that's 3 years newer than yours with top spec, leather, 4WD, 6cyl engine etc You've got a £600 base spec banger rust bucket with no history with all sorts of things that need fixing on it.

It's like me saying I bought a 2007 318, and I paid less than half the price of a 2010 335i.
Mine's not got leather :( With the relatively low mileage I do it was one thing I was willing to do without.

OT but.....

1. What sort of average mpg you getting with that 2.8
26-28 on my commute, which is mainly country roads and barely long enough to get the engine up to temperature. Normally get 32-34 on longer runs.
2. Any problems with the 4WD / diff?
None to speak of. Only issue I had was getting the filler plug off when changing the rear diff oil, as some monkey had badly welded a nut to it to get it off.
3. Is it an auto? If so, any probs?
No, manual.

Think you should try a enthusiast forum bud, possible better answers there. Bud would you really benefit from changing to a auto box?

Is that an actual count or a comedic guess? I was going to count when he posted last night, but I had much more interesting things to do.

If your situation changes every few weeks to the extent that your choice of car needs to change, and your income is such that it belongs in inverted commas - dont you think your priorities should be elsewhere? What would happen if you bought some of the more exotic metal you've posted about and your situation changed again and you could only afford another old passat?

You really do seem to enjoy winding people up, especially BMW drivers. I think all of that, and your millions of spec me threads are just a way to get attention.

Your profile says you're "22 and growing up fast" - without wanting to lower myself to your level and get too personal, the latter really isnt true, most 22 year olds are much more grown up than how you come accross.

You're at uni right? There are much better ways to get attention, spend time and waste money while you're at uni - most of them have breasts.

Just because your happy with the same car all the time doesnt mean anyone else is.

Ok, I'll bite. How can you accuse someone of being happy with the same car all the time when you want to sell your car and buy... the same one with one different part? You don't see fox selling his 530i and buying yet another just because this one has wood trim and nav!

Some serious advice: Seriously, forget this idea, it is pointless. You'll be selling a car of known status, you know its foibles (assuming it has any), you know it's history, and to that degree you know how you can rely on it in any given situation. Changing cars is ALWAYS a hassle, so if you are going to bother with the effort it might as well be for a step up, or a change of classification (ie from saloon to sports car). You'll be opening yourself up to a potential world of problems, you might come across hoards of problems with the new car within months of purchase. Just because something is newer doesn't mean it will be more reliable, better cared for, or indeed in better condition.

Either stick with what you have or actually have a change, you know, a proper change that involves a different kind of car. You're beginning to look as bad as the rover brigade.

So you are wanting to buy the same car with an Auto box just because you are too lazy to change gear in traffic and for when you get tired. If you are far too tired to change gear or operate a car safely on the road, then maybe you should beven be driving in that state.

Logical you are not.

Just because your happy with the same car all the time doesnt mean anyone else is.

So instead of looking at the alternative cars in the same group you are looking at the same one again but with an Auto box.

Deja vu hitting me now from the last paragraph

If you prefer I could make a new username every time i make a new thread ? That way there would be no abuse but I would be doing the same thing.

Well that would be against the rules and also extremely childish. Maybe consider stepping away from the pc and just getting on with it rather than baiting/being a bit simples. Edit: just seen you are at uni which makes this even more worrying. Maybe take on the other suggestion of finding some breasts to amuse yourself with, or doing stupid things, enjoying yoruself, hanging out with friends. Go and enjoy Uni, it's the best time of your life and really doesn't last long enough!

As for all these idiots posting, they seem to lick your arse, I wonder why ?

Same old same old.

Changing the thread from useless into lets whine about Fox and this apparent brown nosing and clique that seems to be soo apparent on here. You are the one who bought up Fox and BMW owners, not anyone else. So how about you reflect on your comments and try to apply some common sense.

Right, I'm off to right another spec me/decision help thread as I might want to change from a UK Dc2 to another UK DC2 with a shortshift and in a different colour.

Wanting or having an automatic has nothing to do with not being able to drive safely or being lazy.

You might want to consider whether the skewed logic is on your part....

And this just sums up motors for me.

Because a guy want a lazy automatic for when he's feeling a bit tired, he is probably incapable of safely operating a vehicle, as he's clearly too tired to even change gear (?!) and is therefore a danger to other road uses and himself.

Staggering.
