After having the system in my sig (Titan pyro) for a few months I thought I should leave some feedback.

Starting with BFBC2 @ 1920X1080 I have had to lower all settings to medium/low turn off bloom HSBAO and change to DX9 mode , and even then I cant get above 50 average FPS , tried lowering resolution , same story :( .

CODMW2 - This system blows the game away maxed out @ 1920x1080 rarely ever dips below 60 FPS :) .

Dirt 2 : Had to lower Res and settings to medium-ish.

Empire Total War: Again I had to lower settings down to medium ect , Although this maybe just a badly optimised game rarther than the spec of this system.

Simply This system doesnt cut it anymore. I think OcUK should have a good look at this system because It can't cope with new games at high-ish settings and high res (1920x1200 , 1650x1080)

Also , Where has Yewen gone , Have I missed something?

Yes I know it's a budget system. But when I have to put settings to low/medium having only had the computer since christmas..

What I'm trying to say is that when people buy this system they will expect to be able to play games reasonably well , It doesn't anymore.

Let's see, recommend spec for BFBC2 :
Recommended:
OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad or higher
Memory: 2GB
Graphics: 512 MB Video Card (GeForce GTX 260/ ATI Radeon 4870)
Controller Support: Support for Logitech G15 and G19 keyboard LCDs in multiplayer

It's clearly under the recommended specification.

If you're really not happy then you could just get a new CPU...
Havent got the cash :(.

Point I'm trying to make is that when people buy a £500 system (Windows included) they will expect to be able to play the latest games at decent settings and res , which the spec they are selling now and the one I have here (very little difference) dont do.

What sensible people don't expect is to take a budget system, which frankly minus the operating system and the premium OCUK charge is about £400, and play what is probably one of the most resource intensive games ever on its highest settings.

Meh , I probably expected to much. Anyway I'm sure OcUK will find this feedback useful.

Whilst a 3ghz dual core and a 8800gtx is a 2 year old spec, its not bad for £510. Its not as if you could get that from a high street retailer, and last time I looked, from the builder rhyming with bell for the same money.

Yewen has left the company.

you have the same resolution as me, i am running a 5870 and a gulftown, both watercooled and overclocked

my BC2 performance is 60fps maxxed out

battlefield makes my system sweat so i would imagine that you would have to turn the settings down a little.

my MW2 performance is 70+fps

in short, your performance is where it should be, the 250 is a good, capable card but you are essentially running all the latest games on a resolution designed to be catered for by a high end GPU

the system is a mid range system, designed to offer good gaming performance for a resolution to match the pricepoint [1680X1050 or thereabouts]

flawless FPS @ 1900X1200 calls for a high end card.
A high end card is in the region of £300

What a silly thread, it's a budget system... and you expect to play the latest games at 1920*1200 at high detail? Do some research before buying!

Thank you for replying. So basically what your saying is , if I lower the res to 1650x1080 or thereabouts , i should get much better preformance?

exactly, a 28" monitor a rather large panel for a sub £100 GPU to be dealing with

you have to remember, the average gaming res for most people is 22" screens

on that power supply you could probably get away with a 5770 but i doubt it would be able to cope with much more

if you wanted to improve your graphics solution, a more powerful supply would be required for a lot of the high end cards

no problem, its always best to ask :)

see how you get on at a lower res, also disable aa+af to see an improvement.

it is a shame about yewen but we have King Arthur in control of our systems now, him and myself make a great team and i feel that our range is becoming more varied and exciting now.

your comments have been noted Chiiives, I may suggest that we include an 'optimum Gaming resolution' in the system specs, this way it would be clearer for customers to judge :)

exactly

if you want top performance in games, buy a top system, not a mid or budget end one.
