Is there a lot of networking jobs in the UK?

What is your degree in as a post grad in advanced networking will be very theoretical and require a deep knowledge from a computer science degree or electronic engineering.

Environmental management and planning :( Dont ask why i picked that lol ive got no idea, technologys always been my thing.

We have these threads once a week or so. In a minute someone will post that IT is a terrible thing to get into and they hated it and couldn't wait to get out and are much happier now they are picking cabbages for a living.

Like any field there are good jobs and bad jobs. Get a good one. Don't end up bitter and in a cabbage field at 5am blaming India.

Hi, I have half a comp sci degree and an interest in ee, would I be suited for a networking role? I'm pretty comfortable with both low level software and hardware....

Is it expensive to get a Cisco cert?

Depends how you do it? Our network engineer did it in two parts costing a couple of grand for both. My local college offered it as a 800 for each one, although you could roll some of the classes in to the next section so possibly saving yourself some cash.

Cheers, I was just after a ballpark figure anyway, I guess I need to start saving some dosh...

The cisco certs are a good way to open the door for an entry level network position. Have a look through cwjobs, matchtech and other tech focussed job sites and read up on what the entry level positions want.

Cheers, this is a good idea, no point in spending my time and money on getting qualified if there are no jobs out there. :)
