bit of a bonus for me finding out i got this coming tommorrow (monday)

was thinking of this for rig in sig

i currently only have a old 40gb hard drive and a 80gb 2.5inch laptop drive in my rig so the SSD and 1TB storage would be great and the 5770 for xfire

any suggestions comments welcome

Looks good but you'll probably find the F3 alone is a big upgrade from your current setup! I'd just stick with that, the 5770 (or sell and get a 5850), and pocket the change.

You sure you need a SSD? You could get a 5850...

i dunno my current hard drive seems to be losing performance the more i put on it to be honest tho it only reads/writes at 45-55mb sec and my computer is always being turned of and on when not using it to save electric so thinking the decreased boot up time could be a bonus

how fast do the f3's writew and read at heard that they are the best 1tb drive around at the mo

the drive i'm using for the os is the 80gb HDD out of the ps3 as i upgraded my ps3 drive to a western digital 320gb

as i get free delivery you think i would be better off just ordering the sammy F3 trying it out for a week or two then see if an SSD is really neccesary for me

Wait, you already have a 5770? So you would be putting it in crossfire? In which case go for it.

Don't think that's the best 64GB SSD for the money though, but i'm not really up to date in that area so i'll let somebody else take it.

Hi

Why not forget the ssd and get 2x powercolor 5770's that are on offer this week and and the samsung f3 1tb hdd all for about £306 just another option.
Just a thought imho ssd's are just to expensive the mo
Hope this helps

i dont like SSD - sure speed is good but for the limited space and price i dont think its quite worth it yet. i would think that the 1tb drive would be enough of an increase

i already have a vapor x 5770 was thinking of another one for x fire as my mobo supports full 16x16 or 16x8x8

so you think i should just get another 5770 and the F3 and pocket the £140 change for my next future upgrade

I would say forget about the SSD and keep the money for something else, the rest of your rig looks really good without it and those F3 get about 140mb read and write from what ive seen so should be a nice improvement( correct me if im wrong XD).

Just a thought, but you could be using more electricity with all those full shutdown/reboots than you're actually saving by turning off rather than just using sleep/standby!

The 64Gb kingston is yet another example of an SSD that has very poor random write speeds due to its controller. Its the 40Gb and 80Gb kingstons that are rebadged intels and perform decently.

Its not that there are no drives that compete with the intels in performance, but the 64Gb kingston isnt one of them.
