Hello

There's few bent pins on my motherboard socket, only two of my memory slots are working. I contacted Creative Computing and they told me they're not offering a paid repair service at this time and told me to contact ASUS. I know ASUS will take forever with it if they do.

Anyone know where I can get the socket repaired?

Thanks

Creative Computing should be able to offer you an RMA service for the board, where it'll be sent to ASUS Czech Republic for repair...

I'd try them again :)

They've already told me that ASUS prob wont take it back because they'll say it's user induced damage. The only only way I can get it sorted is a paid repair.

Welcome to the forums Max

I wish you the best of luck with your Asus rma. I hear promises of a five day turnaround for their motherboards, I look forward to you verifying or contradicting this.

If creative have said no once, I can't see asking them the same question again helping. Return it to whoever you bought the motherboard from.

Of course if you've bent these yourself, whoever is fixing it will probably identify it as user error. Manufacturing errors should be distinguishable from user error.

:(

Hey

I bought the motherboard in October. I doubt they'll take it back now.

Creative Computing told me to contact ASUS to see if they can do a paid repair. I was trying to find out if I could get the socket sorted from anywhere else.

Here's a pic

If the pins have been bent by user damage, then it's customer induced damage and not covered by warranty.

If it's a manufacturing fault, then you should be able to RMA it through your place of purchase.

I'm looking into a method of an ASUS repair for you, give me a little while and I'll find a contact for you =)

I know I shouldnt....

but ROFL :P

Max_Payne, pop an email with your details through to: uk_enquiry {at} asus {dot} com with your details and I'll make sure it's picked up, if you put FAO -VK- in the title, that'd be handy :)

Wow

I got my board back because they said it couldn't be repaired. No bent pins on the board I got back and it doesn't post wtf? This isn't even mine. The only problem was the pins....

They may have fixed the socket and then found the northbridge or something to be shot?? Thing happen when you try a bust board and usually once broke it just breaks even more for good measure.

Pop VK a quick message if you can, he was willing to send me an i5 750 so I could flash my motherboard as it refused to post under an i3. Got around it in the end but it does just go to show how much he is willing to go out of his way when he doesn't really have to.

Before I sent it in it was working fine. Just two mem slots stopped working which was most likely because of the bent socket pins. I explained that the only problem was the socket pins to -VK- in an email. Now it starts up and nothing..... :(

Yeah ok

Thanks
