Asked a million times before but another 5770 or something else

right from general thread i got 350 quid coming 2morrow 65 is already spent on a F3 1TB HDD so got £290 left

should i get another 5770 and x fire or sell my current 5770 and have about £400 to spend on something or to throw a spanner in there should i wait for fermi and see what happens to ATi

2 things possible outcome fermi will be a beast and ATi prices will drop to give nvidia some competition or fermi will flop ATi sales will rocket along with there prices.

now really is a difficult time to buy what do you think i am better off doing


P:S the single 5770 is just not cutting it at 1920x1080 on AVP or CRYSIS WARHEAD with any amount of AA getting under 30FPS

Doesn't mean you can't wait for fermi reviews still. If it performs well hold out on a new card for price drops, if it's awful then just buy a 5770 as it's unlikely there will be a price drop.
 
Unless you are itching to try crossfire, I was, then get a 5870 vapor-x. I think, sadly, that fermi will flop and I take no pleasure in saying it and consequently Ati cards will continue to rise in price making Ati the new Nvidia and no longer for the people.:(

Sine NV are only launching top end cards there won't be any pressure on ATI to lower prices on the HD5770 all it may mean is a discount to the HD5850 (big if) making it a better purchase in terms of value for money then the HD5770 so I wouldn't bother waiting for a price cut (more likely prices will go up given ram prices) and get one now.
 
Since you already have a 5770, another in crossfire would be a nice boost on that res. But I would sell that 5770 and buy a 5850/70, or wait for Fermi to wait for the 5850/70to drop in price a bit. If not, then get another 5770 now if you're desperate :P

I have a single 5770 in my second system, plays avp 1900x1200 full settings and 4xAA not a problem.

If you can provide proof that it's running constantly above 30FPS then i will believe you. I can run it at max setting but FPS will dip into the low 20's especially when playing as predator and lots of aliens on screen.

also are you running full DX11 like me including tessalation and advanced shadows
 
Not a fanboy here (Have an NVIDIA but would like a new 5 series ATi) but surely rather than ATi going the 'premium price cause it's better' route they should still lower the prices whatever the outcome of the Fermis are as then they would completely slaughter NVIDIA. Just my 2p though :p
