New 530D - Driven One Today

I haven't driven a 535i so can't comment, perhaps I should but I like the range of the 530d and I also think the 530d engine suites the car very well and with such a range of torque and auto box really fits the role of mile muncher with aplomb.
You can throw my opinion away for all I care, but I would strongly urge you to drive the 535i. The 530d was nice, don't get me wrong, but the 535i had plenty of torque for picking up speed quickly at low RPM, and had a much greater sense of urgency if you did want to drive quickly. I only drove them on a track, but I tried to replicate all sorts of driving styles while going around and I didn't find one for which I preferred the 530d :)

If you got this would the RS4 be going? Just curious :) Haven't seen an F10 myself yet but I might pop into a BMW dealer next week to have a nosey around, not that I have any chance of affording one but hell, looking is free right :D

I might give the RS4 to the wife, trade hers or I may sell the RS4 private as I wont get a new 5 until July time, maybe late June, but then I am not in a rush.

Is this the F10 or the previous model?

I actually drove down a pot hole in the road test so deep, it caused the low pressure tyre warning to come on! Embarrassing actually, but really didn't see it due to fiddling with bloody sports button!

If I could get one, without going bespoke paint in Carbon Black I think it would look fantastic but standard black looked boring and already much dirtier than the silver car even with only 20 miles on the clock.
BMW Individual has a much nicer range to choose from, but whether you feel it justifies the cost is another matter.
Shame, as the standard colours are pretty uninteresting. Old Man's beige seems to look quite nice though :o

Even the BMW Individual range for the F10 is pretty lacklustre. Nothing like the BMW Individual of old. For anything really special you'll need to go bespoke :(

I really have to look at the car for what it is, a great mile eater but not a dream car with ultimate spec and all the bits I would want. I set a budget of around 45K for my daily mile muncher and I don't really want to spend more, but then I am useless at keeping to spending limits.......or making my mind up on cars!

Housey, I'm under the assumption that our car-needs are similar, a daily to grind out +30k a year & something for the weekend for sheer enjoyment. In my own search I found nothing which satisfied me on both accounts in one car & thus opted for a Diseasil Golf & Lotus Exige, would you not be tempted to downgrade your daily-car choice & stuff a few extra pennies into the weekend-car pot? It could lift you from (i assume) 996GT3 upto a 997GT3/RS?

It was a 7 GT3 I was planning, I've had a 6.

Which you miss & in many respects is the better car... Either way a brand spanker 530 & a 997 Pork, very nice.

The 6 is a much rawer car, much more of an event but any GT3 is an event like few others and right now a 6 GT3 or RS is a fantastic purchase as I think they are at the lowest they will be.

The 996 GT3 RS is my alltime favourite car & your quite fortunate to be in a position with the means towards ownership tomorrow, it is certainly a concern from my position that the value is heading North.

I think a 6RS might be where I end up, like the CSL it is an itch to be scratched and I feel this is the one that people will see as the great car in the GT3 range even if the 7 is the quicker car.
