Cyclists: Run em down

Not true. If I own low emissions or hybrid cars I don't pay it either. Do these vehicles have to get off the road or have special lanes as well?

Your argument is the usual drivel spouted by drivers who don't know what they are talking about.

You want cyclists off the road because they don't pay tax, but I own two cars and multiple bikes and so i pay road tax. In fact, by using my car less I'm reducing traffic and speeding up your journey.

Well put :)

No idea why ppl are getting so uppity tbh.

Why, in this case, do the ppl on here who deem themselves to be proficient cyclists feel the need to defend the segment of their "group" that are, quite frankly, pillocks ??

I mean, if you cycled like an idiot then I can see why you would want to defend yourself but if you dont then..... *shrugs*

I could get all defensive on here about how us "cage drivers never give any thought for 2 wheeled users of the roads" but I dont... Why ? Well, because I KNOW there are diddies out there that dont care for ANYONE else on the road, let alone motorbikes/cyclists. What I DO know is I am not one of them.... I leave plenty of room for them and try to be considerate etc...

If you are a decent cyclist then why not just be happy knowing that you are and that the comments on this thread dont, necessarily, apply to you but apply to the cyclists that ARE idiots.

Even the decent cyclists know there are idiot cyclists as much as there are idiot car owners...

Who defended them?

They are idiots, just no more or less idiotic than drivers, motorcyclists, scooterists and pedestrians.

Ok, defend might be the wrong word... Taking it as a personal slight at themselves ?? That better ??

Generally when people rant against cyclists, as per the idiot in the original clip, they rant against all cyclist. Not just the idiots. Then they say 'run em over', and other people giggle and smirk.

That's why we get uppity :)

Possibly because, thanks to those idiots, I recieve personal insults on a weekly basis from drivers who think I'm just like the idiot cyclists.

I decry those who cycle inconsiderately but I also object to those who routinely refer to cyclists as a menace when it's a minority, same as drivers and motorcyclists.

Recommending that you, in a one to two tonne car, run over a cyclist is recommending assault or attempted manslaughter. If a landrover sees fit to sideswipe me it'll leave me bloody and broken by the side of the road, with a scrape on his car. That is not funny.

Are you sure? It depends on the situation I guess, but with good writing and plot, it could be the next Anchorman.

Good post oddjob :)

what annoys me the most (and I drive and ride a motorbike) is the absolute need for most car drivers to need to overtake a bike. When I'm on my roadbike I can happily hold 20mph on the flat, down hill I can break a 30 limit easily.

There's a hill with speedbumps on the way home every day that car drivers insist on overtaking me, doing 30 in a 30 zone, so they are probably doing 40, then they swerve in front of me and slam on their brakes for the speed bumps that I can take at 30, causing me to almost plough into the back of them or take an inside line inches from their precious bodywork. One day I will scrape my pedals down their doors and guess who they will blame?

Blame the councils for putting in pointless traffic calming measures and silly speed limits, don't blame the drivers for wanting to drive at the speed they see fit (I only ever do the speedlimit when it is the correct speed for the conditions, or when it is heavily enforced)

See fit to do 40 between speed bumps and then smack on the brakes? :p

I ****ing hate cyclists (in London - who don't obey the highway code and cause a danger to themselves needlessly).

I ****ing hate motorists (in London - who don't obey the highway code and cause a danger to themselves needlessly).

nobody likes people like that, regardless of what they're driving at the time

Why are there so many psychopaths in this world who can't grasp basic humour and take everything as personal attack?

Because it's the reality of how many people think... those same people are the ones that put cyclist's lives in danger, as i've (or anyone who has actually cycled) experienced way too many times.

Understandable.... I guess I just aint the same. There are ppl on here that say how car drivers are a menace to cyclists etc etc etc... I dont get upset about it because I agree with them - there ARE idiot car drivers but knowing I aint one of them is sufficient for me...

As I said before, if it was Jeremy Clarkson saying this on an episode of Top Gear, everyone would laugh BECAUSE its him saying it but because someone else that we dont know is saying it, ppl take it wrongly ??

How do we know this guy isn't a USA Clarkson ??

You can get points and lose your licence in car, you can't on a bicycle. Bicycles are a law onto themselves in London. They're down right dangerous and get in the way.

I'm confused at your rather silly comparison and comment.

I'm quite happy with the facilities as they are.

And as for tax, as i'm happily using the roads, I'm quite happy to pay "road" tax at the current rate:

CO2 emissions (g/km): Up to 100
Band: A
Annual rate: Free

Where do i send the cheque?

Great, so you'll be happy to pay insurance, get a license plate and a license with a point system?
