Current gen consoles peaked? and are you ready for the next gen?

I feel the 360 and Wii have pretty much peaked but I don't think the PS3 has peaked just yet, maybe once GT5 comes out it might.

The 360 has not peaked any more than the PS3 has imo.
The Wii peaked a while ago.

Natal and Move do nothing for me. MS and Sony were forced into doing these because of of successful the Wi has been. I could care less for motion controlled games.

I am ready for the next microsoft console and nintendo console but still feel content with my PS3.

360 has a lot more to offer, couldn't care less about the Wii, a kids console imo.
95% of the games i play are on my 360, my PS3 is used for films and bbci player.

No still love my 360 and games are still great and graphics, Fifa10 and BC2 for example

If by saying that you think that the 360 and PS3 are equal in terms of peaking Graphically then you are wrong.

Anyway on topic,

I love new tech but I honestly feel that both the HD twins still have a lot more life in them yet, I think live/psn have helped a lot in terms of extending the life of this generation.

Is your opinion based on the example of FFXIII ?

What advantage (graphically) does the PS3 have over the 360?

Dont forget the 360 has a lot of games that have had 2 series out already, GoW 1/2 it takes time to make a uber graphical game hence the wait for GT5 compared to the 360 having Forza 2 AND Forza 3, amazing Graphics dont make a game.

Uncharted 2 came out 2 years after the first.

Gears of War 2 came out 2 years after the first.

Uncharted 2 spanks Gears of War 2 graphics wise and anything else on 360, go figure...

I never even use my PS3 but it's pretty clear which one is producing the prettiest games. Don't get me started on Killzone 2 and God of War III.

lol, There's a difference between something hitting its peak and pointing out where good graphics and games are.

I'm pretty sure Lowrider is saying the PS3 hasnt peaked yet, Which considering the best looking and performing games came out the end of last year and beginning of this year. I agree it is just getting started

The PS3 has only been out a few years so doubt its peaked and has slight better tech than the 360 but to say the 360 has peaked is rubbish, we will only see it peak when compaines start work on the next MS console.

I havent wowed at a 360 game since Mass Effect. Even Mass Effect 2 wasnt a big improvement graphically over the first, It was just better implimented with more gameplay mechanics. Which is in itself great, But nothing new. I don't feel anything is pushing the 360 anymore, Not the way the PS3 is being pushed. I don't feel the 360 has moved on since GOW2 and Mass Effect, Not in a significant way

On PS3 there's God of war 3 with it's epic scale = Wow

and there's Uncharted 2 with the graphics and fast action none stuttering gameplay - Absolutely ZERO slow down in that helicopter scene, while churning out graphics like that. = Another Wow

I just havent felt that sort of 'wow thats awesome' feeling with 360 for a while, Hense my feelings it's reaching the top of its game.

That's not saying there wont be fantastic games released, I just don't think we're going to see many 'OMG how did they manage that' moments

Halo 3!!!!! 360's graphicial peak!!! Hell no, Halo 3 was Halo 2 with constrast turned up to max to make it look more colourful.

Of course amazing GFX's don't make a game, my favourite game on the whole planet is probably Tetris if I'm being honest, closely followed by Doom, both still played on a regular basis today, and I'm not saying that the 360 has peaked in terms of what it has to offer games-wise, but graphically it's @ a higher peaking point than the PS3 is.

I think in terms of using the 360's hardware/architecture imaginatively the 360 is near or already past peaking tbh, but that's not to say that we won't see more games on the 360 with better GFX/physics etc, I believe that we will as it's not always about how clever dev's are @ making use of the hardware, but also the software engines themselves evolving, better coding etc, but that said I really think that the PS3 has already proven that it's the more capable machine in terms GFX's, Not that that means it win's the 'console war' though.

I'm still expecting a few years more of my PS3, there's so many games out that I still haven't had the pleasure of playing, titles like Vakyria Chronicles, Heavy Rain and Demon's Souls to name a few.

Graphically, I think the PS3 will still be very respectable 2-3 years down the line, and gameplay wise, we have already seen innovation with Heavy Rain as well as the proposed MMORPGS to come out later this year.

No, I'm not ready for the next gen, the current one still has so much to offer.

Agreed, in one of the more recent trailers at a point where Alan is lit up, you can actually see some of the irregularities in the stitching of his tweed jacket*. It just looks ridiculously detailed and absolutely beautiful to match - even if the game itself isn't very good, I could easily see it resetting the graphical bar for this console generation.

Sorry I don't see it. The game is based at night and uses light to look pretty, Look at the state of the dying police officer. It don't look bad per say but it don't look "wow" either.

Alan wake does look good, but graphically - nothing awesome. Can't say I have been wowed by graphics for a long time. We are spoiled.
