My new car.

Appreciate the comments guys, the exhaust is mental loud, love it!

Decat it and find it's true noise :D

As for the splitter, it's not a Subaru item although it is identical but made by a company called htauto, cant go wrong for £120.

Thought so!

I have been thinking that, it's got the PPP so it should be on the springs right? Is there anything I can do to check because I do think it's sitting a bit high.

Look at the springs, they should be red. Although PPP doesn't mean springs, it's just the performance pack.

Btw this is mine on Prodrive springs..

Compared to your height..

FFFFUUUUUU damnit mine is far too high! I'll check it out in the morning, seems really strange that it doesn't have them, is it an optional extra?

Is yours much louder than mine? How do I go about decatting it? Do I just replace the downpipe, don't know if I want to go through the hassle of making it a full 3" like yours although if it's cheap to do I guess it wouldn't hurt:p

Yeah mine is a lot louder, especially when on full chat. I'd say just get a downpipe if you cba with going full 3" :)

The springs I do believe were optional, yes, just like the PPP. You can get much better springs though than the Prodrives. Whiteline do some called the Flatout, which are quite low, Sam had them before he sold his car.

I want overall handling too rather than just height, are the whitelines the ones to go for? How much is it all going to set me back?

There's a lot you can do, a LOT. But if stance is at first important as well as good handling, then some Eibach springs ~£200 will lower, stiffen and generally improve the handling, and most importantly the feel massively. Once it stops wallowing around you can find it's limits so much easier. Obviously you need to think about fitting and alignment costs afterwards.

Then after that you can upgrade anti roll bars, links, drop links, full coilover suspension etc. The things that you can do to an Impreza's chassis is ridiculous, this is why people have always got something to spend their money on!

I'll start with the springs first,

Tein S Tech 30mm drop - £180
Prodrive 25mm drop - £240 (made by eibach anyway)

Are the Teins recommended or do you think I should just go for the Prodrives?

In fact maybe it was the Teins that Sam had! Either way they are good springs, if I didn't already have the Prodrives (yup made by Eibach) then I would probably go for the Tein's out of those, the Prodrives are more of a compromise spring as it was a factory option of course. The ride is actually smoother with the Prodrive springs than standard STi suspension!

Thanks for that, just seen that Scoobyclinic does the Prodrives for £170inc delivery.

I won't order till beginning of May as the car isn't going to be used much till then, in the mean time i'll check out the reviews between the Teins and Prodrive and also a decent place to get the geo done, unless you have anyone you recommend?

Powerstation seem to have some fantastic kit for alignment etc. Yeah don't make any quick decisions, have a look at pictures of the stance they have, the reviews which people give etc. Either way, they all make the car look much better, handle better and fell much better :)

Random-ish question Gurdas. Is your car a UK car? I only ask because of the orange in the headlights. I thought the orange indicators were for EU cars.

Blitz sounds lovely. Get it catted but change the front cat to a sports cat, panel filter then a map. Happy days.

Yep i had the teins, offered a slightly lower ride height than the prodrive ones and seemed to be easier to get hold of used on scoobynet.

Didnt really get any proper track work just 5 laps of the nurburgring, was a huge improvment.

I went with the Prodrive springs (MY05 STi) but it was a daily, so I didn't fancy anything too crashy yet would still kill some of the wallow and no sag issues. Big improvement with a fair drop but if it were a toy I'd go with the WL Flatout kit now from what I've read. I'm suprised you have made it this long without changing a few things, I binned the pads and lines pretty smartish. Like ScoobyDoo69 said, a lot can be done. If it's a city posebox, throw your cash on the frippery, otherwise you should definitely look at the Whiteline gear like the front and rear ARB's, anti lift kit and droplinks. Get your new springs on with a good alignment thrown in (TSL did mine) and get some Pagid 421s on with some braided hoses. It'll be pretty handy and a good start without compromising everyday useage too much and dial out the understeer (which was already reduced on the 05 STi) in short. 4 wheel alignment alone is worth every penny, probably worth a trip to Powerstation as they seem to have a really good reputation with sorting out scoobs.

Car looks great, MY05 is still my favourite looking one, I'd peel off the Prodrive stickers at the back, probably the Type UK as well and get some PFF7's. Very nice, enjoy it.

Is that a definate? I never had any options with springs, just the PPP and the wheels. I know they made them and were available but they never offered to me as an option you could tick like the wheels etc. Odd.

Well not exactly an option as such but they were available through the dealers. AFAIK all the cars came standard, PPP, wheels springs etc were all added after leaving the factory. Leaving the dealers/prodrive full of brand new parts spare.

O yeah and defintely get a good set of discs and pads. They make a whole lot of difference, I love my brakes :D

I think these look amazing without the spoiler and mudlflaps, as has been shown in the pics.

Nice!
