Couple of questions please chaps as I am sure something is a miss.

I currently have BT broadband the package that is unlimited and is costing £25 a month . This is done through a Black BT home hub with the phone on it.

1.At best I have only seen a dowload speed of 350/KB per second but more of an average of 280/KB per second , althought BT assure me that my home should have a speed of upto 500/KB per second when I have phoned tehm up and tehy tested the line for me ,

The above being said the router is in the conservatory and connected by approximatley 20 yards of phone cable , will this have an effect on speed ?

2. Most of my usage is gaming and I feel I am getting huge packet loss and am at a disadvantage with the lack of speed against some players , BFBC2 is constant disconecting me from a game and Left for Dead 2 just consatntly resets my router .

Anyone have any solutions other than change my ISP , wich I am happy to do if need be ?

Would a new router be a better option placed nearer to the phone connection box into the house or is my 20 yard phone line sufficent ?

Oh yes! You need to minimise the RJ11 cable length. A metre, absolute tops, should be fine :)

Ping jolt -t for a bit and post the results here.

This. Try and keep cable lengths to an absolute minimum, especially RJ11 which tends to be unshielded more often than not.

You could check your connection stats* for a couple of scenarios:

1) As you are at the moment with the router in it's current location.
2) After moving the router up close to the master socket (the first one entering the house) so you can use as short an ADSL cable as possible.
3) When connected to the test socket behind the faceplate on the master socket (as per step 2) like so:
