If you look at the taskbar. Its version 0.783. What probably shows its a updated engine and there starting from scratch. Not far from v1 :) :)

HELLO BOOBIES!

I've never got on with rFactor. With it being unlicensed getting mods and finding online activity to match it is difficult. Setups are also needed to do any good. Very hardcore community and single player experience is shallow. Hopefully they will be friendlier this time around.

well unless they greatly improve the graphics i see little point....also it would be nice if they could include more than 3 cars or was it 2.

Gran Turismo and Forza have already showed what kind of market there is for racing sims with upto date graphics and a nice selection of cars. we still don't have anything that comes close to those 2 series.
there is a big gap to be filled on the pc but it depends on what kind of budget they have and how many cars they can license to use for the game.

also mix and match is where its at....some people might want to verse their mates in inferior cars around the ring. only allowing same class cars to race takes away the fun.

rFActor will always be my favorite game. I just want a easier game to make multiplayer matchs, join, servers with autodownload and that would be perfect.

There making the game so you can import mods from rfactor 1. This is gunna be one heck of a game tbh

That's really not true for the sim racing market,

Graphics, as long as they aren't appalling, are a non-issue.

Car lists, I'd ratherer a smaller numb of cars with exceedingly good physics than hundreds/thousands of cars with mediocre physics,

In fact I'd add in tracks there as well, I'm more concerned about how many tracks there are (as in actual tracks, not different layouts of the same track) than the number of cars in the game...

I do agree with the last bit though, the one reason I really didn't get along with rFactor was the fact that to have anything even vaquely worthwhile I needed to download about a million extra cars/tracks for it.

As mentioned, if they can implement some kind of download system when connecting to a server, this would help.

Maybe a hybrid P2P/Server system to download the required files?

just look at the sales figures of forza and gran turismo....compare them to rfactor/ gtr2/ gtr legends/ liveforspeed

i know forza and gran turismo are on consoles so can sell more but if rfactor/ gtr2/ gtr legends/ liveforspeed were on console you think they would come close in sales ?

graphically they are too poor.....as much as some people say graphics mean nothing....its a lie especially in car games.

they hardly have any cars ...so what seperates them from the other 7657576 racers ? people love racing everyday cars in games, its not all about some unheard of 200mph machine.....wouldnt you like to race your real life car against a mate in his around nurburg ring ?

a nice career mode so you can save up for that supercharged ferrari and fly past the subaru that was giving you soo much trouble....gtr and likes are too restrictive and force you to race against the same race class....limiting the options of gameplay and taking fun out of the game.

The original rfactor was only worth buying about a year after it was released and the modding community had released plenty of content.

As a stand alone purchase rfactor was a bit light on content.

Hopefully the sequel will address this problem.

GT and Forza aren't really sims though, as such the market they cater for is quite different to what rFactor is aiming at, which is a market that doesn't really care about graphics per se.

Do I want to race a mate in our own cars around nurburgring? Do some boring career races to save credits for something silly? Not that often really, yes occasionally I like a quick blast on FM3 but I play a pc sim with far less cars and inferior graphics far far more than I'll ever play FM3...

they are sold as sims and why don't people who buy rFactor and GTR care about graphics ?...i bought them both and i feel the graphics depserately need updating.

but thats you though and a handful of others who are in the minority.
its the majority that counts as thats where money comes from and why i said

Forza & Gran Turismo being perfect examples.

NFS: Shift claims to offer 'unparalleled realism', what developers/publishers claim and whats actually true don't always match.

It's not that sim racers don't care about graphics, but they're simply not the highest priority on whether a game is worth buying/playing,

And yes, sim racers are in the minority, whilst Forza/GT cater to the majority that don't care about realism to the nth degree but want a semi-realistic game with good graphics and large car lists.

rFactor 2 isn't aimed at these people though, it's aimed at sim racers, who want realism above all else. It will never sell in the numbers Forza and GT sell in, but considering the differing markets that's to be expected really, no point applying values necessary for one market to a game catered to a different market...

realism above all else yet GT looks far more realistic ?
it wont sell in the numbers of Forza or GT...well its not because it's more realistic that it wont sell. its not any harder to drive a car in rFactor than it is in GT or Forza...they all cater to newcomers with numerous aids.
