Hey all im just wonder if anyone may know whats causeing my comp todo this , ill be playing for 2 , 4 , even 8 hours then the computer will freeze up (cant move mouse or nothing) need to press reset button , even alt , ctrl & del dont work , now i was thinking maybe its overheating so ive been leaving the front door open on the case and the air coming from the side fan on the case is nice and cool but i ran a benchmark on my GPU the other day "VTX ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5" the program i used was called "Furmark" and my GPU was going as high as 85c...... this cant be good or is that ok for GPU temps? , any help would be great.

87c for gpu is not to bad, download HW Monitor and core temp to check system temps and cpu.

Download Prime to check for stability and check your hard drive manufacturer for any software which can used to test your HD.
Another download is mem test to check your memory for any errors, you can run this as a bootable disc.

87c is not high for 65nm and 55nm based GPUs but for the HD5770 seems a bit high.I have a HD5770 in my other rig and with the fan at 65% its gets to about 65*C after 30 mins of Furmark. But as RJC said you should look at the temps of the other components like the CPU and NB on the mobo.Test your CPU for stability......however I don't think that the RAM isn't stable because it would have crashed after a couple of minutes if it was.

When was the last time you gave the cpu a clean, and the fans inside? If you can, take a look but make sure you turn the power off.

My old PC used to crash, switch off etc and its because the cpu was over heating sometimes and it didnt like it. Once I gave it a careful clean, it was all good again.

If you can use a clean brush or a vaccum to suck up the dust around the fans but becareful!

Thanks for your replys guys most greatful :)

i gave the computer a good clean about 2 months ago maybe it needs another one , altho i think my case is rubish for cooling its a Thermaltake Soprano , if the front door is closed it gets so hot , heres a pic of my temps , if u could tell me what there all connected too i may understand what needs changeing , theres so many temps i dont know where to start.

I have had this happen with numerous different PCs, mainly laptops. It doesn't seem to be an overheating issue, but an OS issue. It is a complete lack of response of any input because the OS has completely frozen.

I have not fixed any of the problems as they are very far-between, but they happened more often in PCs with Win7 RC on them. It may be a case of repairing the OS. It could be corrupt Windows files or registry damage, or something along those lines!

Im using windows Vista 64 Bit , the last time i reinstalled it was about a year ago so maybe this is the main problem then , i was thinking of buying windows 7 64bit because i am told its a lot better with performance etc...
