graphics card for Modern Warfare 2

i'm in the process of building a new pc for my son it's got a E8400 cpu with 4 gb ram.
it needs to be able to play call of duty modern wafare 2 ,i'm way out of touch with graphics cards can you recomend a card thats suitable new or secondhand

err dunno really ,he uses a 19" monitor forgot to say budget is up to about £100 max.

8800gt 512 will do the trick

should be able to pick one up below £50 too.

My overclocked GTX260m - basically a 9800GT on steroids - plays MW2 at 1680x with all settings maxed and 4x AA with silly smooth fps so any recent mid-range or better GPU is fine.

basically a 8800 card or above will b great. considering you can get a gts on ebay for about £30 nowadays its pretty attractive

A 5770 would be fine, MW2 uses the Unreal engine so that card would be more than enough to play it, you'll also have dx11 support for the future.

MW2 doesn't use Unreal engine, its a modified idtech3 engine (i.e. quake 3).

I dunno about that... its a cludge on top of a 10+ year old engine, with various bits randomly tacked on, suprisingly it runs pretty well and looks good.

ATI 4850 should do it fine. It's cheap and future proof (well if your planning on not going hardcore gaming with crysis, metro 2033 etc).

Maxed it out at 1920x1200 with a 8800GTX, so yeah, 8800GTS should do fine, or the 4850.

I think OCUK have a 4850 somewhere in their clearance section. I was looking at buying it a while ago before my money ran out.

19 inch usely run at 1600x900 or something so a 900gt will do.
