Yes, because banning them only means that only criminals have guns.

This is further confirmed by a comparison of gun control and violent crime rates between US states.

With banning them. They're already banned in the UK, so why unban them? Like Burnsy said, it's not like there's a real need for them.

Whilst I agree with Dolph, it surely was the initial acceptance of arms that got them in to the way of life they have now....ie gun crimes are rife....If they had implemented the sort of gun control that they have now earlier then surely they wouldn't have the problems they have now.
Let us not forget that the UK has been heavily populated for far longer than the U S yet due to the fact that guns etc are outlawed here we don't have as much of a problem as they do over there where guns were accepted as a way of life.
Had there been the firearm restrictions over there that we have over here then surely their problems would not have escalated.

Banning guns is not an answer to the underlying problem though, the problem is society and the cure is not having guns banned

How will unbanning them solve anything though? I take it the underlying problem you're talking about is gun crime. The USA doesn't ban them and has gun crime. Finland doesn't ban them and allegedly has both extremely high rates of gun ownership and low rates of gun crime. Simply banning/unbanning them probably won't fix anything.
