Metro: 2033, trailer

Running on high 1920x1200 with i5 at 4.2 and a 5850, dx11 effects turned off its very playable, its when you go onto very high it goes a bit slideshow for me, its the shooting that doesnt feel fluid its a bit arkward.

Good game. Haven't finished it yet but think I am probably quite near the end. I have enjoyed the combat more, by the sounds of it, than some of the others...though one of the shotguns is ridiculous in that how many shells it takes to down an enemy. The gaming experience for me has been quite smooth. It ran pretty well, all considered.

Guess you mean the auto shotgun? It also doesn't reload the full 6 shells properly either most of the time which is also really annoying lol. If it reloads to 5 shells, fire once so your left with 4 and reload again to get the full 6. The pistol does more damage though then it :S

Just been playing in the dark with volume up reasonably loud. Played through the Ghosts tunnel section near the start, needless to say I was staying pretty darn close to the guy who guides you through it :D.

Also had my biggest 'jump' moment while playing any game ever, I was hidden in the shadows and saw one of the monsters crawl past me and through the door I just came through, strange thing was it was looking at me all the time. After about 10 seconds I started moving on, crawling out of the crevice and putting my back to the door. Almost immediately it was on my back, I literally shot both barrels of my shotgun aimlessly, hit escape, and had to sit back and let my heart calm down for half a minute.

Really good game.

I decided to give this a bash and see what it runs like on my ageing machine. Well the answer is pretty badly heh! To run at my native 1920x1080 resolution I have to turn the graphics to low and even then in outdoor bits I'm mid 30s to mid 40s (DX9 mode). While it doesn't look half bad even at that settings, I think I'll be leaving this untouched until I upgrade in future. My specs are:

E7200@3Ghz
4GB RAM
8800GTS 640MB
Win XP

its playable on my pc runs at 23-30Fps at 1280*1050 all at very high 4xaf and MSAA DX10.
Not bad for my poor 4850 512Meg

:D Those scary feelings reminded me of when I first played Doom3 and Fear.
However, although I am enjoying this game a lot, I haven't found it that scary at all, just very emmersive. Normally I am one of the first to say that gameplay is the most important part of any game, and to a large degree it is,...but I must admit these gorgeous visuals are fantastic fun! :D

Well I've just noticed this thread after making my own one (forgot the colon when searching :(),

Really liking the atmosphere but yeah the combat is a bit hit and miss, literally.

There don't seem to be any videothroughs of people that are any good at the game: knifing ghouls, not knifing people, wasting ammo and the most criminal for a stalker lover: missing out all the lovely caches! I might have to make a videothrough myself although I can't see it working well with my specs.

Btw 1366x768 all low gets very playable framerates apart from the glitch where they drop to 1 and you have to restart the game

Run at 1900x1200 on an e8400 @ 3.8 and a 5770. Dx9 on high get smooth gameplay. No problems with audio, using an asus pci d1

STUTTERING PROBLEMS SOLVED!!!

Anyone having probs running this, take heed. I am now running at 1920 res on DX10 with everything on HIGH with no stutters.

Here is what I found after ****ing about with this for 3 days.

Go into your system properties where you usually allocate the virtual memory. There you will find a tab called Data Execution Prevention.
Click on this and add the Metro 2033 executable to the exceptions (or turn it off completely).

The other thing is to check that it's not running in compatiblity mode if you are running Windows 7. Right click on the Metro2033 exe file and click properties. there you will find compatibility settings. Uncheck them if they are checked.

Any news on a ATI performance patch? Heard nothing but bad things about performance on ATI cards :(

Should be arriving soon, might wait a while before I install it. Still got all the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games to play ><

im on vista how do u turn it off completely? i mean ive looked at it and ive 2 settings for dep, on for windows and essential services only or on for everything BUT the programs i select.

which should mean no games are using it when its set on for just windows and essential services, or i can turn it on and add metro to the exceptions so thats its off.

the thing is with both ways isnt it off for metro and games anyways?

/confused

Has anyone had an error message about a missing physxloader.dll? Spent 4 hours this evening trying to get it to work with no joy. Really beginning to wish I bought this on my Xbox or not at all.

I had that to start with. I merely closed steam then restarted it up and I was all good to go.
