OcUK Photo Comp - Season Nine : Round Three - "The Contemporary City" DISCUSSION

Looks like its going to be another late entry for me, the building I went to shoot a little while ago didn't quite come out how I hoped :(

I think yesterday is the earliest I've ever got my entry in. :D It felt good not to be rushing to upload something on the last day.

Greedys entry is stunning and one of the best images i've seen in the comp for a wile.

Cant see that being beaten.

Martinturner whereabouts do you live mate ?

Im really in need of a shooting partner (and maybe someone to learn from at the same time :embarresed:) and none of my mates are interested in photography sadly.

Not going to enter this one. Haven't got time and wasn't really happy with anything from the London meet, I'll enter the next comp though :)

Agree, shot with a compact digital camera too, just goes to show you dont nessesarily have to have hundreds of pounds worth of DSLR kit.

Kudos greedy.

After a few years of snapping and not really noticing this forum, this is my first (hopefully of many) competition entry! Changed my effort on the first page, wasn't happy with the first one.

To echo everyone else's comments, Greedy's entry is superb, really captures the atmosphere. La Defense is certainly photogenic, but then most of Paris is!

Really annoyed with myself!

When I went to get my night shot I had planned both times it was raining hard and I didn't want to risk my little 500D bless him.

Now I've been in Cardiff, Bristol and Birmingham today (well driving through so could have stopped off at any) to grab my shot. Basicly I thought it was the 1st of April so didn't take my camera with me only just realised it's the 31st

I'm going to have to think outside the box now :D

There's obviously a way to also "stack" images vertically as well as horizontally in a panorama, I wish I knew that before, I was just thinking I needed a wider lens! Off to google/bing/yahoo the solution! :)

Well not the shot I wanted at all and I ran out of time

Would like to say any shot is better than no shot but I'm finding it really hard to justify it with this one

This was from just 4 vertically stacked images IIRC

Just vertical or horizontal I get. It's the revelation (to me) that you can have multiple rows and columns, if that makes sense?

Agreed. Stunning photo.

Really not happy with my entry. Had fully intended to go back with the flash gun and get some better lighting but just never got round to it.
