Anyone drive an Audi tt?

No mention of the bright switch though, a hidden gem in a sea of plenty.

You'll never get the IC spray button on a TT though. Worth thinking about.

Compared to a TT I was looking at recently

* Heated leather
* Bose sound
* Xenons
* Cruise Control
* Climate Control

cruise is a nice option to have but can be retrofitted for around £150-200 i think so i wouldnt pay over the odds for one with cruise rest is pretty much standard fit at least on a 225 anyway, think bose was an option but a pretty common one, of the 4 or 5 i looked at all had it

Well thats the point - and I hope I conveyed that - the Impreza is just... totally different. No Xenons and Bose, but an IC waterspray and proper 4WD!

I should have put a smiley there, it's by and large a fairly useless thing. I probably tried to convince myself that a surge of cold, dense air was a wonderful thing to have at the touch of a button, but it sort of intermittently dribbled and spurted out warmish water when punched and pushing on or overtaking, you're too busy really to hunt for it.

The single most awesome part of a scooby interior. I miss my bright switch :(

Me too. The GDB-F was apparently built around it.

I own an 03 plate TT coupe 225 BHP.

If you are after a quick car that is sporty yet still a nice place to be and comfortable on longer journeys that the TT is a worthy contender. It doesn't have the same feedback the likes of the S2000 or 350Z has, but it is very quick (sub 6s 0-60 with a remap) and has bucket loads of grip.

It is also far less chavvy then most alternatives, and doesn't feel like a cheap family hatchback with bits bolted on (Focus ST, Astra VXR, Impreza, Golf). Yes I know the TT is fundamentally a golf, but it is a whole lot nicer place to be and is in my opinion one of the nicest looking normal cars on the road.

Like any other TT driver I have been subjected to the odd "hairdressers car" comments, however I fail to see how a 225bhp (270 with a remap) 4WD coupe is anything like a hairdressers car, particularly when the majority of comments come from those without a car or drive a T reg Fiesta. I also get far more comments from girls wanting to have a look at it or sit in it, which would be great if I were still single.

Exactly this.

I've had my 225 coupe about 6 weeks now and haven't yet felt the urge to swing a pair of scissors at someone's barnet or get naked with another man but then mine is 10 years old so could be broken?

The interior is still my favourite part, I like the high level of the doors and the design of the dash, its a nice place to be. For those complaining about head room I suspect the seat wasn't in its lowest position, I'm 6 ft and have at 15cm between me and the roof.

If you want a nice looking car to blast about in it's a great choice. If you want a sports car then look elsewhere.

I find the mark 1 shape TT has not aged very well at all. It looks dumpy and too dated to be an enduring design, and certainly not an icon not in a pleasant sense anyway.

The lady doth protest too much...

Fag hags.

I drove a 225 recently and I have to say, did quite enjoy the way it drove despite the usual VAG numbness from the steering. A great solid feeling car, with the right kit and a nice interior too, very well fitted and comfortable place to be.

The only thing I didn't like was the visibility out of it, again, my usual bugbear with modern cars. I didn't like the low profile of the side windows either.

Certainly went very well, even with "only" 225 odd brake. The only thing I didn't like about the turbo unit was that sounds just, well, boring - whereas the 3.2 I had a go in was much more evocative, purely in the vocal department - and gave the car much more spirit.

Couldn't care about other people's opinions on cars - I'll damn well drive what I like and I really don't care what you think about it, as long as I'm enjoying myself! :p

* Dont lie, you know its the case.

Indeed, I even stated as much in the post that you quoted.

FWIW the interior on my 2.5 year old TT rattled worse than the Imprezas I test drove, maybe because the gauge cluster had been replaced so many damn times by incompetent Audi dealers.

Sure it looked stylish with it's silver bits but it's still textured and coloured plastic at the end of the day.

I have to confess that my main experience of Subaru interiors has been with the BE5 Legacy which was noted for being an awful lot better than the Imp in terms of interior quality.

In any case I thought this thread was about *driving* an Audi TT, not sitting and fondling it's leather gear knob.
