The register of political pigs

He's got a point. Childish insults don't help people make up their minds this close to an election.

Sorry I disagree. This thread doesn't seem to have been aimed at helping people to make up their minds but merely a bit of fun. Furthermore an age old forum statement has always been, "If you don't like what was posted, don't post in the thread."

I didn't realise flippancy was against the forum rules?

i think the election should be changed to a monthly raffle to see which of the above scumbags get the guillotine.

all jokes aside though i bet a few of those stand again this year and actually get votes, its shameful, and disheartening that so many ppl cant find some balls and vote in the green party or something.

Anything political is rarely just 'fun'. It's not against the rules, but neither is it for Fox to make a rather valid point.

Perhaps it's down to the reputation of the OP for being unable to post in a political thread without ad homs against politicans?

Take this thread, for example.

While this thread may be a bit of fun, Stockhausen's biases are well known, as is his general lack of objectivity.

Peter Mandelson and various others including Daddy Conway, Nanny Spelman and the retarded Wintertons added - how could I have forgotten that mendacious walking pile of excrement Mandy?

Shahid Malik - not quite sure that he is up there with the greats, need a more convincing argument.

Harriet Harman - despite her keenness to hide MP's expenses details and complete disregard for the law on speeding and using a mobile 'phone while driving, I don't think that she was particularly involved in the expenses scandal was she? I would be happy to be reminded of any relevant details.

Jack Straw - odious and unprincipled though he is and despite his enthusiasm for engaging in an unjustified war, I am not aware of any significant involvement in the expenses scandal, selling peerages or touting for business - YET!

Gordon Brown - nope, whatever other faults he may have, I really can't see any real reason to believe that he has his snout in the trough - and I'm not just saying that in case he decides to beat the living bejeezus out of me ;)

Tory Stephen Milligan - a typical Tory public school sexual deviant perhaps, but not obviously shoulder-deep in the trough so far as I can see.

Mr and Mrs Expenses the Keens
Who

OK here goes, "Brass Eye; Bremner Bird and Fortune, Spitting Image, The Thick of It, Yes Minister, Yes Prime Minister." Politics is often fun because fun is an excellent medium for getting more people interested in what is essentially a rather dry topic. Politics isn't everyone's cup to tea and for some people, very far down their list of priorities.

Does that mean people should be criticised for having a more "childish" view of politics?

Ah what about that mad old Norn Irish bint - Mrs Robinson, arranged a loan for her teenage lover or something? That counts as personal gain right?

Quite. Shame on you for excluding that odious little stain on the anus of humanity from your list.

I miss the age of politics where the only scandals that occurred were which Tory MP has his member/whip/whig (delete as appropriate) inserted into some place most people would consider unacceptable. :p

Baroness Thatcher - Gave Mark Thatcher £12m from the Al-Yamamah arms deal which she signed.

Would disagree with the OP on Jeffrey Archer. Not his biggest fan but the character of the main witness who admitted in court to stealing from him and was highly discredited by the defence. Coupled with a biased judge who gave out the highest perjury sentence ever in the UK I fail to buy it. For a civil perjury case, he was given a sentence higher than people charged with perjury during murder trials

Thatcher, for ruining this country in general.
Baroness Thatcher - Gave Mark Thatcher £12m from the Al-Yamamah arms deal which she signed. ...
Much though I despise Thatcher for the damage she did to society and any remaining sense of community in Britain, I really don't think that she was out for personal gain in the way that many current Politicians seem to be . . . on the other hand, in view of her God-awful Mercenary son Mark . . .

Actually, I didn't include Archer even though in all probability everything he did was for personal gain rather than public service and who certainly does seem to be an inveterate liar and fantasist.

God please bring back Spitting Image! I remember when a scandel ment David Mellor being caught in an hotel room spread eagled in some dodgy position with a slapper, thats what mp's used to do when they wanted press attention!

Nowadays its all about scamming whatever they can get! makes me sick, even more so because some time ago they went to war on benefit claiments making anyone who went on the dole turn into a scrounging cheat that had to be punished asap!
