Nintendo 3DS Announced

This is such OLD News.. why is everyone raving on about it now?

Up until now it has all been rumour.

Yes we knew there was going to be a new DS, and we new it was using Tegra.

But that was about it, Nintendo have now officially gone on the record saying its coming and given a time frame.

Im sure they could have analoge sitcks on it, they would need to create a groves in the top of the ds to fit them but it could be done.

If it's using the tech I think it is (most likely). I first saw it demonstrated about 6 years ago (maybe more) at Sharp. Back then, the amount of freedom you had in movement was very small (if you were on bus or train, you would lose 3D effect every bump) but it produced much better results than any glasses I've ever used. What's better, is that to anyone watching, it just looks 2D (unless they're close enough to the sweet spot to get a mess of image).

Yes this is all good news but...

Nintendo need to sort out their online offerings, there's no excuse if they release another console that features poor online capabilities like the DS and Wii.

Scrap game/console ID numbers, have a unified central user system for all games and consoles with chat and online vs.

^^

the whole premise of pokemon was RANDOM people running into one and other for a scrap...the game is made up of random battles...

yet to play online you need to get a friend code, go to the lobby etc and when you are in an online battle its super slow.. like its running a 14k modem or something...

why no lobbys? why no fast matches?!!??!?!?

Agreed, but personally I can't see Nintendo changing it. Guess we will see at E3 but I guess they will revamp the online in some way, I wouldn't put it past some sort of channels feature similar to the Wii.

I think a channel system is a good bet, and that's what worries me, it's a lazy and inefficient way of implementing online play and won't do them any favours in the long run.

I think Nintendo are slowly changing their online, i think that monster hunters 3 doesnt require firends codes, so i think they are slowly getting the message.

Nintendo owns the handheld market IMO. I've still got my phat from launch day and it hasn't given up on me once. Glad I haven't bought any of the 3 "sequel" consoles to it yet. Doubt this will come for a good while yet though. :)
