Should have called his bluff and ploughed into the back of him

(NB - not a serious suggestion

On a dual carriageway, one guy in the left lane, me behind him but in the right lane. I'm going ever so slightly faster than him so begin to overtake him. Some car in his lane decides to stop and reverse on the dual carriageway into a layby (small space). I don't see this car in his lane so he sticks the indicators on to move into my lane, I'm beside him at this point so carry on my way, he breaks and goes behind me in my lane to go round the prat reversing.
No he didn't.
Wow! Sitting here having a massive adrenelin comedown...
Just had the most frightening road rage incident I`ve ever experienced.
Was travelling down the motorway earlier, and there was a black RS6 in the middle lane doing about 60 with nothing to his left.
I went to overtake, but there was another Audi bombing down the fast lane, so I was baulked with no option but to brake hard or undertake the RS6.
A quick flash of the lights to get him to move into the correct lane (as I normally do with middle lane hoggers), and his reaction was to jump on the brakes!! []
I now only had the option of undertaking, and as I went passed and gave him a look, his passenger came me the finger. I returned the compliment with the w*nker sign.
Nothing unusual there. Normal day to day stuff...
He stayed behind me for around 6 miles, but when I came off at my junction, and he followed, I realised he wasn`t for letting it go.
Came right up behind me beeping his horn, clearly not happy. Confirmed, when he shouted `Your a ******* dead man...` out his window.
Now, I`m on my guard big time, thinking of the best escape route, which isn`t easy given the layout of the junction.
I had to smoke off sharpish, and imagine my dismay, when faced with a tail back, and nowhere to go...
Heartrate was really up by now, and he had me trapped, but rather than block me from behind, he (thankfully) came alongside, and the pair of them jumped out.
These guys weren`t messing around either...there`s only a couple of types of people who drive black high-powered Audis, and these guys weren`t reps...
With him leaving me an escape route to the rear, I managed to back up, and perform an half-arsed J-turn, and make good my escape.
I ended up have to go in the opposite direction to what I had too, but at least I had gotten away. Or so I thought...
As I turned a corner a bit further down the road, here comes the Audi sideways behind me. Intent clear...
He then proceeded to chase me for quite some distance (about 6-7 miles). I ended up jumping several red lights, and dangerously overtaking a few people, but by now, I was pretty ******* scared, I don`t mind admitting, and was pretty much hoping I`d get spotted by a passing police officer.
Every time I thought I`d lost him, he would reappear in the distance. I eventually managed to lose him in a housing estate by making several last minute turns, my only aim; getting to the police station a couple of miles away.
I gave several pedestrians a fright, and nearly ran into the back of a Jag, when the toasted brakes gave up. I wish I could go back and apologise...
When I was finally sure I`d gotten away, I headed for home, but as I came out of a side street, he passed by! Luckily he had no option to turn round due to traffic, and I made it to the police station without seeing him again.
Not having had time to remember his reg, the police said there was very little they could actually do. Pretty much what I expected them to say, but at least if they get reports of someone driving like an idiot, they`ll know who it was and why.
I can only thank my lucky stars, that I wasn`t in the Polo (very distinctive), and I was actually driving a non-descript 1.3 Nissan Micra... [:s]
Lesson well, and truely learnt;
Watch exactly who it is you are remonstrating with...there are some ******* nutters out there... [8(]
Maybe i should keep a keyboard in my car just incase? the big decision is...Logitech or Microsoft?![]()
People that can't fight should just ignore the idiots & go about there business
The other driver may have misjudged his re-entry into the lane due to misreading the length of the OPs vehicle, meaning the OP was, in fact, making him aware of his presence.
If someone pulls in directly in front of you, they have either
a) Done it because they are mental
b) Misjudged how long your vehicle is / misjudged your speed
Both cases warrant use of the horn to let them know that you are there.
Yes he did, if a car overtakes you and pulls in so close it warrants attention from the driver to watch his distance, beeping of a horn was valid.
Lexus ISwhatever, is sitting just behind me in the LHL, as the lights go green he tries to undertake me, and aggressively manoeuvre his way in front of me.
I know.. I was recounting a similar experience where someone cut me up and then reversed into me in rage when I beeped at him, albeit he was on a straight road, I was on the exit of a roundabout..Sounds almost identical to the OP's story.. However the difference was I ashamedly got out and raged back at the idiot..
You should have gone to specsavers![]()
So you were driving without due care and attention? I would prob also be annoyed with you.....
