Hello.

Of late I've got into the above artists, as well as some others of that ilk but I'm struggling to find similar artists and bands to satisfy my musical needs.

Most of the time I get music suggestions from my friends but they are all a bunch of skinny jeans wearing, hair straightening, cheque shirt wearing indie boys. Country/Folk Rock isn't their forte.

So, OcUK help! - Steve Earle is currently floating my boat the most, so things more similar to him would be great!

timothy b schmidt's new album is good.

what bout Tom Petty/Heartbreakers, ace man/band.

Blanche are great, not very well known though but are very folky/rock. they have vids on youtube, jack whites cousin is in blanche.

Also anything by jack white, very blues/folk/rock, racenteurs. sea sick steve

Really liking Timothy B Schmit - never realized he was of Eagles fame!
Didn't like Blanche at all, couldn't stand the main singers style of delivery.
Jack White of the White Stripes? I'm not missing something here am I? Not a fan of the White Strips, or what I've heard of his solo stuff (thinking the tune he did for the Bond film).
However, the Racenteurs aren't bad - not quite what I was looking for but I quite like it.
I've known of Seasick Steve for a few years, fantastic noise he creates.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are also pretty good, will have to listen to them some more.

Knew of Jackson Browne & James Taylor already.

This should keep me going for a bit though, thanks.
I keep posting links to my friends, and I'm happy that some of them are quite enjoying it!

No, probs, glad to of helped.

Aye white stripes jack white, you may like their earlier work I feel, try "the white stripes - the white stripes" its the first album.

Not sure what Blance songs you heard but try these

Do You Trust Me
So Long Cruel World
Garbage Picker
Who's To Say

good selection there.

Get tom petty - highway companion, such a great album.

Heard of willy mason, very good folk/rock , Where the Humans Eat is best album i think.

Chuck couple more out at you, The Fiery Furnaces - Blueberry Boat (album) and Adam Green - Gemstones (album), might be a bit way out there but worth a try, adam green more so i think.

Not sure if your into bluegrass music but you gotta whole lot of listening out there if you do, could try Hayseed Dixie to get you started.

The Supersuckers/Steve Earle split is pretty good, also worth trying the Supersuckers country album Must've Been High (their regular stuff is rather good as well).

If you like steve earle you probs like john cougar mellencamp. For me his best album was scarecrow. I got into john mellencamp, then steve earle.

I bumped my Charlie Daniels Band thread the other week, and got no interest so I'll try bumping this one instead!

Still hunting for more similar stuff. Been enjoying Devil Makes Three & Zac Brown Band recently.

I really must start listening to the folk show on Radio 2. Often listen to the Country Show on Thursday evenings which is really good.

Ryan adams - heartbreaker, gold, ashes and fire
Lucinda williams - car wheels on a gravel road, Essence, world without tears
Josh ritter - hello starling - historical conquests
are their standout albums, but they do have lots more good stuff.

Cheers Bruce, really liking Josh Ritter.
Hank, gave Pokey Lafarge et al a go but not really my thing - maybe it's just my mood. Will try again with them at another point.

Starfighter, great taste good sir ;).

Tom Waits - Nighthawks at the Diner, or Blue Valentine.

Not 100% sitting in with your wishlist, but I always recommend those two albums to just about everyone, and haven't heard a bad word yet!

Pokey Lafarge and the south city three - Just excellent.

I first saw them on Tiny Desk Concerts. I was flicking through the new videos and their garb caught my eye and I decided to give them a listen, not expecting much. Once they started and the lead signer started belting out the song and I was blown away.

Indeed, very special stuff.

Been lucky they have visited Norwich twice in two years, saw them a couple of weeks ago, new album is sounding great!

Thanks for the tube link, will check it out, if you search newport folk festival pokey lafarge you can download the live sets from their last couple of appearences for free, great stuff.
