So I decided to finally make the leap to SSD and this seemed the best bet for my budget. I'd heard about a firmware update that improved performance greatly and I was just looking for it but when I try and get it from the Intel site nothing happens, it seems to be dead, did they pull the update for some reason?

Also, can I update the firmware after installing Windows 7 or does it have to be before? Plus if there's anything else different about SSD setup please let me know.

Cheers.

Both links are dead for me too, totally ruined my planning ahead moment.

exactly the same here

ive just installed my Intel SSD and am trying to get the Firmware,

my mate has sent me the files from when he got them im going to try that now.

Update: Nope didnt work

Comeon Intel!! been wating all day for this firmware, need to have trim!

Their entire d/l section is down at the moment so doubtful it's because they pulled a single driver. They just released new RST drivers which supposedly support TRIM which is why I've been eagerly awaiting a response from their server.

ive just installed GTA 4 on this drive and its Rapid!! took like 3secs to load a mp game and im in, runs really smooth aswell love it!

I'm amazed they're still not shipping with the Trim firmware. The whole introduction of SSD's does seem shoddy, especially considering the cost of the blasted things.

I do like my 'trimmed' X25-M and my 'trimless' :( Samsung, though you do eventually get used to the speed.

Thats really irritating.. I ordered mine yesterday expecting it to come today, but :(.. nope.
So i'll get it on Monday.. and hopefully get the firmware update then.

Does the firmware update wipe everything or can you install win 7 first then do it?
Cheers

Lunatic Dreyfus: The firmware doe's support trim, their Intel Matrix Drivers do not however.

NutterzUK: no the firmware leaves the data on the drive intact, but of course with doing such things there is always a risk of something fouling up.

Sweet! Grabbing them now. Just hope they fixed the performance hit a lot of folks (including myself) were getting with the RST vs Matrix drivers. Still, maybe worth it to have proper TRIM.

Question, I used PowerISO to burn the image but not all files were copied to the disk, is that a problem or do they decompress when you start the installer? It better have worked as that was my last disk!

Also, been checking out some videos on Youtube and they've got me excited, these things are so bloody fast.

Have I ordered the wrong adapter or something? The drive doesn't even fit in the adapter and none of the holes match up, the documentation says it's for laptops but nowhere on ocUK does it say that.

Please help :/

I spoke with Startech who actually make the product and they tell me ocUk sent me the wrong product, wonderful. If anyone has experience with this drive/bracket combo please speak up, I'm going crazy here.

Adaptors? pfft.
Just use Velcro strips or duct tape. The drives don't care where or how they are placed so you can hide them away anywhere.
