Georges, benny is spot on. The abdominals need hypertrophy and recovery just like any other muscle group for growth, so heavy resistance with failure occuring no later than reps 10-12 are perfect. Balance and prorioception is a different kettle of fish however

(as a note, anything that taxes synaptic pathways / CNS should be performed fresh, so if you want to work balance, and anything that requires heavy concentration, ala a BB getup, it's best to do it on its own or at the beginning of a workout).
Ramble aside, I managed a 40kg on my right (uninjured) arm today, still stuck at 37.5kg on the left though. Strength gains are growing quickly, but I keep my reps at a max of 6.
