Every chav in his 106 space craft has them, now you can too on the new 2010 facelifted Ford Mondeo.

Pretty much every manufacturer is on the case with a strip of LEDs nowadays. Just wish they would have put them within the headlight cluster :/

At least they take the eyes away from the front styling. They should put some on the back too, for the same purpose.

They could at least put it inside the headlamps. That looks awful

I don't understand this "running lights" regulation thing. Surely it's just the same as having sidelights? Why force car manufacturers to redesign every new car and shove a strip of LEDs in when you can just make it mandatory for all cars to run with sidelights on permanently, like headlights with Volvo? Or have I missed the point in epic style?

They can look decent but I don't like those Mondeo ones. They look great on Audis though.

I think some people dislike their sidelights on all the time, hence the amount of Volvos you see with the running sidelights disabled/switched.

Perhaps this is a way around these problems, by making it a part of the styling.

What's everyones beef with running lights? I don't mind them at all.

I still can't get on with this shape Mondeo. The rear lights are *boke*... sorry, sick in my mouth a little.

Yh hatchback rear does look odd, I quite like the estate though.

Audi have it right. They look perfect. even the new A3's with them over the top look good.

I am yet to see any other manufac match the looks of Audi.

LED running lights look absolutely terrible, they are probably the most Halfords-esque of all new car styling features. Everything seems to have them these days and it just looks so awful.

EU regulations do not mandate LED running lights at all - they simply say you must have running lights. These can quite easily be sidelights just like Volvo have been doing every year.

However Audi decided they needed something brand-identifying like BMW's Angel Eyes, came up with the LED thing, and everyone else copied.

LED running lights aren't the problem really, it's the size, brightness and colour of them that is - there's no need for them to be so big and bright white, what's wrong with easy on the eyes brightness which would still be perfectly visible or the type the E60 has (3 orange LEDs in the headlamp corner).

I'm so glad you agree, they look rubbish - I think Clarkson said 'they look like a council house christmas lights' and they do, they are crap.
