Mit hood

If I'm not mistaken, I used to spot this every now and then when I popped into my gym. Always caught my eye!

Guildford, parked up in the Travelodge? Yep, that's one of my regular haunts :p

Stupidly small world but if you are talking about The Gym (that's its name!) near the Porsche garage in Guildford that's where I use to go up until about 2 months ago - open 24. Never seen an S3 or this parked up but I'll keep an eye out for you two when around and about.

There is actually about 10 members in and around the Guildford/Woking area who post here!

Yep, that's the one Peerzy. Not there again now until May, though.

Here's an original:

Tatty black paint works for these and I've scored some tall skinny 21" wires for some comedy alternative motoring to the wide whites :D

Indeedy. That's the place. I usually go about 3 times a week but I go before work so that might be why you don't see mine there!

Hi - although I use a gym out near Godalming as its closer to home and I get use of the pool / squash courts rolled in.

What do you do round here Jonny? would love to come have a poke around the car next time your in the area :)

out of interest how does that get through the MOT as I thought you needed to have the wheels covered?
Not for the MOT. It's construction and use for the fenders and as long as it's not raining when they're off, I'm legal ;)

I'm doing an engineering doctorate with the university. When I have a taught module they stick me up in the Travelodge, the rest of the time I'm researching at a company so hence not there all the time.

I had the day off yesterday and decided to tackle the two holes in the hood. I also ordered a piano hinge so I could cut the hood in two and hinge it down the middle.

I should have taken some pics in progress but I forgot the camera and I was sooo excited about being in the garage I sort of just got on with it...

I got the repairs to the holes as straight as I could but they had really been butchered out so it's full of ripples. I'm not too bothered because it fits the look of the car and it's nothing a lick of filler wouldn't fix if I really wanted it straight. The hinge is plug welded from the bonnet side and I haven't ground the welds back because I wanted to leave them visible. They do look a bit like pop rivets so I'm wondering why I didn't just rivet it and be done with

I have some new headers on the way so I can put the exhaust under the car, then I can remake the sides so they fit properly.
