New car - Z4 M Roadster

Oooo eeeerrr, just cause I have a hairdresser's car now, don't want you turning!

I think it's the same as SkimpyBeardy's knob (on this forum - E36 328i Sport), he has a Z4 shortshifter I think. He works on my team here, so will take a look at his/yours Saturday. Currently it's a bit too long with the throw I find.

I was absolutely amazed at the difference the short knob made - all I did was swap the knobs, didnt bother with a short shifter and it transformed the gearshift. I would imagine with a short shifter as well it would be even better.

I installed the ZHP Short Gear Knob yesterday, it does make a lot of difference!

I rekon you got a very good price on the car, the insurance seems double what mine is on the 3.0 - but probably reasonable for a Z4M. Are you 25 or younger ?

Will look into the gear knob then.

I'm 21, so the insurance is very reasonable.

Yep definately agree on the ZHP gear knob. Really does make an amazing difference.

Order from Soper of Lincoln, address your email to Joe @ Parts and mention that you have seen/heard about his service on the Z4-forum, then say hello to your £39.95 ZHP gearknob delivered next day :)

I really do hate people calling it the "ZHP" gear knob. It's a stubby M-Sport gear knob, optional on all e46's, ZHP is the gay American name for a 330i that doesn't suck.

It's called the ZHP gearknob because the ZHP was the first car to have it fitted as standard. A standard 330i Sport doesn't suck, either.

I couldn't care less about what it's called, but I will tell you I paid £26 for mine :)

The part number is 25117896886 for a 6 speed one.

The retail price is £39.95 as tommo said.

In fairness it probably cost me another £14 in fuel to go and pick it up!!

One thing to be wary of, when removing the old gear knob - be somewhat careful not to smack yourself in the eye... my friend has a slight black eye from removing mine last night :P

£26?! How?

I wouldnt advise a second hand one - the new ones have a really nice new-matte leather feel whereas the second hand ones are glossy and hard.... this is such a difficult topic to talk about without laughing :D

Surely once you use your new knob for a whilst it will go hard and glossy too
