Thanks for any suggestions. :D

Darkfall Online

best mmo I've ever played, it's more of a Ultima Online sequel, it's not an exact clone of it's ethics but it's supposedly the closest thing to it out atm.

and it's FPS based as well.

Darkfall Online probably the only decent MMO out right now, LOTRO used to be good but turbine have ruined it, Earthrise is looking very good as well.

Eve is the only MMORPG I can play. You need to find some more experienced players to help you out when you first start as theres a hell of a lot to take in but it is well worth it. And theres a good few players from these forums to help you out.

Darkfall is very good, but only if you're willing to put in quite a bit of time, find a good guild etc.

Personally, for me - Eve is currently the best thing out there.

Or play UO for free - http://www.uogamers.com/ . If you've never done that, do it. Now.

Same can be said for UO can it not?

I gave UO a trial before Darkfall but it really felt outdated.

It's funny how the most popular of anything always takes a tonne of crap..

Imo WoW is the only one worth while. Maybe Warhammer aswell, but it was abit ****ed on launch..

WoW is the most successful by far, no doubt about it. It's just a shame it doesn't add in Directx 10 and 11 support for the people with good tech.

EQ prior to Luclin was the best MMO that ever existed.

I say *was*, because without the players we had back then, it's not the same game. Also the devs have pretty much managed to ruin it over the years.

I say that UO (prior to trammel) was the best MMO that ever existed.

But everyone has their own opinion.

Thats because its horribly optimised, the engine has barely been updated since BC.

Also its CPU bound so higher graphics wouldnt do much in terms of performance.
True, but it would take an awful lot of effort to optimize it. They might be updating it in Cataclysm, what with them having to remodel the whole Azeroth land. I have an i7 920 at 3.8Ghz and have to put it on the medium preset to achieve playable framerates in raids and 60fps in wooded places.

it takes a Tonne of crap because these so called AAA mmo's are mainly just carbon copies of WoW mostly, hardly any developing studio is taking any risks. I've found of recent years the indie MMO companies offer the best experience and try new things.

Darkfall
Fallen Earth
Eve
Mortal Online
Global Agenda

etc..

I used to play City of Heroes, that's a great game and still going (fairly) strong :) Play the US servers though for a bigger population :)
