***Official OCUK Deadlift Challenge***

....Any particular reason for the quickness? Unless your comfortable with the weight obviously :p

I'd always imagine its better to go slower?

To get the most reps in one minute?:p

Awesome job Benny. Get the hell out of the 1xBW category please.:D

It's a max rep challenge?! For the 1.5xBW & 2xBW they will be more challenging and require pacing myself. That weight for me isn't particular challenging. As you can see I didn't need to stop during the minute so going slower would only lower my achieved reps ;)

Yep apologies should have read the thread properly before opening my gob :p

Yeah my bad forgot it was a comp :o

Gotta be careful though, could screw the lower back

Regular deadlifts are no where near as fast obviously.

You could say that about any deadlift speed/rep/weight combination. The deadlift is a perfectly safe exercise when performed properly and within your capabilities. It's often when people try to exceed their limits where injuries occur.

Yep :)

Understanding now, must be tired / delousional :(

I'll keep watch on the thread anyway :)

Probably because its spelled entirely wrong :p

Got a chuckle from me too! :p

I tell you what that attempt hasn't half ruined me! Absolutley knackered now! Wide grip chins, B.O.R's, Pull Down, DB Rows, Seated Row, Back Shrugs, some side raises & bicep isolation followed that!

Haha I can already feel my arms aching! Back doesn't feel too bad. Shoulders do from my raises. No doubt my glutes & hams will seize up something rotten over night!

I'm out tonight too as I'm travelling back home for easter tomorrow. Going to have to lug a 30KG suitcase around! Probaly wasn't the best choice of day to do that!

Edit: Cheers gents.

Hope you've got something up your sleeves ;)

Edit2: Also is 45 correct? in which case I'll update the spreadsheet.

Well done and I count 45 as well if you need the confirmation. :) I liked the way that the other guys just stopped to watch as well.

I'll probably give this a go on Saturday but no chance am I getting anywhere near those sort of numbers.

Cheers for the confirmation.

Just go at it like a bat out of hell!

I was making quite a lot of noise with plate clinking. Was about 7 people stood behind the camera all smiling!

I won't be smiling when the best part of 180KG needed shifting. Hopefully make double figures and I'll be pleased with that!

BennyC

That was gangsta! Haha

I have no chance of topping that! Especially at that speed!

I'm taking the week off training, when I'm ready to resume - I'll be trying for endurance so if it takes me above a minute - so be it!

Lactate build up really begins to set in around 45-50 seconds. Once the lactic acid system has kicked in your time is limited, literally. It's only so long before lactate stops the release of calcium into the muscle fibres hindering/making contractions physiologically impossible. So breathe, dig deep and let rip!
