Current gen consoles peaked? and are you ready for the next gen?

Personally Id wish Sony finally get off their backside and have a new facelifted front end.
It helped X360 imensely and if they then allowed folder creation, folder thumbnails and better ways for users to file and arrange their media.

This would be like an upgrade on its own and no doubt it will come eventually perhaps with even 3DTV support for menus?

Please no. There is nothing wrong with the XMB. It gets the job done and is fast and easy to use.

Yeah but some of us aren't poor and can afford to buy better things.

With attitudes like that its no wonder theres so many tossers in online PC games.
Nothing to do with being poor or not, normal people are not willing to spend the money on a gaming PC, whereas the small price for some consoles in comparison is far more attractive...
Could just spin it the other way and say you're a complete sad **** for spending that much on something to play games on and obviously cant think of anything better to spend money on.
Personally Iv got a decent PC which I also used for a lot of video production during university, but im much prefering the console experience currently, and since its pretty irrational to expect my mates to shell out on decent PCs its more logical to buy the cheaper console option and play with them.

yes money isn't the issue here - for instance my so called "high end " well on this thread - PC - the motherboard is almost 3 yrs old, the CPU 2 years old, and the graphics card 1 year old - so its not like I spend all my money on my PC - as I don't

but consoles are what based on 3-4 yr old tech ?

I would doubt that most sets are 720p these days ... even smaller LCDs are 1080p.

Oh money definately is the issue with consoles.
Only newer smaller LCDs are 1080p, lots of people bought LCDs before 1080p became so popular etc, and John Smith would inevitably go for the 42" 720p set over a more expensive 1080p 42" purely for cost's sake.

You needed to be clearer with your statistic. Your original post said 90% of TVs. When you seem to be meaning new HDTVs. So basically your actual statistic is

"Over 50% of new HDTVs are 1080p" :p

Meanwhile the console community is just brimming with great people isn't it? I have never encountered such a high concentration of morons in my entire life. Literally just one day of console gaming online is all I need to totally lose faith in humanity and wholly support the extermination of the human race.

I don't think it's much to do with money at all. If you add it all up - Cost of the console, HDTV, games over a period of time...etc then the price difference isn't that great at all.

I reckon it's more to do with 'normal' people being utterly clueless about high end PC's in general, building PC's and running PC's...etc. Console is nice and simple.

You mean you don't have a social life so you can spend more on computers?

Yeah. I'm not a very social person (Schizoid personality disorder).

Woh...Careful, You almost over reacted there!

Judging by the 2 games i bought last week (Heavy Rain and Uncharted 2) I'd say the PS3 has life in it yet. I hope so anyway as I've not had the console long and wouldn't want to fork another load of cash out for the latest console.

The best games tend to come out towards the end of a consoles life span. I heard they delaying releasing any new console for a few years yet cause of the credit crunch.

When new consoles come out they are usally pretty pricey i dont think theres many that be willing to fork out full price for them.

Look how badly ps3 did sales wise when it came out.

But i am now rush if the next gen of consoles i am happy with my ps3 i have a lot of games to get through and i have my pc for the pretty graphics.

You buy the TV to watch TV, DVDs, etc anyway. Games cost on either platform.

Get over yourself. I've built loads of PCs in my time and I know my way around them very well. I'm also pretty fluent in each of the 3 main operating systems and am generally very computer literate. However, I have a wife and two children and lots of other pressures on my time, so I use a Mac for computing and consoles for gaming because they work and they don't take up my time in getting them to work. Yes, consoles are simple, but that's a bonus for me because I lack time, not brainpower.

Several things actually and one of the most annoying is

You get the idea.

Main thing is visually it could be better, easier and well improved quite a bit.
