Budget 2010

**** that

The pure jelously shown on this thread is staggering. Just because they had the intelligance and pure hard graft to get to the point where you earn 100K a year and then you get some idiots who can't do the same scream "unfair" truely winds me up.

It's not hate the rich, it's hate the successful, just because they don't lay about waiting for hand outs
Isn't this just as bad only in reverse? I'm sure being 'rich' and 'successful' has as much to do with blind luck as inteligence and hard graft, i'm sure their is as many hard working, inteligent people earning below average income.

Th budget seems pretty fare, although I think the 'extra' revenue should be used to reduce the deficit rather than increasing spending. Although this budget may very well not get adopted as in a couple of months we will more than likely have a change in government anyway.

etc etc justify borrowing the equivalent of £5,000 for every man woman and child in the country over the next two years, here is a hint, limit spending you ******* morons.

They aren't morons, they are politicians. They have calculated that politically borrowing is more popular than cutting spending. If you want someone to blame, blame the public, that's us. We have communicated over the years that we would prefer the government to borrow rather than cut.

There is nothing "fair" in taxing certain groups more than others unless those certain groups have been given an advantage in the first place (if we were to use companies as examples then oil companies rightly should be taxed higher than say a supermarket).

What about the people who are in the higher tax bracket, yet are happy to contribute more. Are they jealous of themselves?

Borrowing can only last for so long, it would be fun and games for the country if we lost our AAA rating.

Spoke to somebody yesterday who has a friend who was made redundant in the IT sector. 3 or so kids and a year later he is better off staying on the dole. Cannot blame the individual, but this government is a farce.

Tories would be no better they would just find something else to sell that is not privately owned already to pay off the countries debt. We have such a fantastic rail service thanks to them

How about for one, we stop wasting money & lives in Afghanistan.

Sorry but that's abolutely dogs balls.

because it is.
that is 4 years pre tax earnings for me so STFU.
with that kinda income feel free to bugger off somewhere else if you don't like it.

And I'm a student earning about 7k a year working part-time so quite frankly your salary is irrelevant. I can't understand the willfully blind attitude of some people here. We can't forever keep squeezing top earners, otherwise they'll leave, then what will we be left with? Oh yeah, a mountain of public sector jobsworths with even fewer means of funding them

I am someone who takes quite a reasonable interest in politics and economics, but I'm by no means an expert. I don't feel qualified to offer a significantly valuable opinion on many of the issues from the budget. I think it's quite amazing how the majority of the people in this thread have all the answers, and seem able to express them so calmly.

You may wish to **** that, but one two words 'Charity sector', so you're wrong.

The bit he highlighted was:

I'm sure being 'rich' and 'successful' has as much to do with blind luck as inteligence and hard graft

And while no doubt there are some people that are both rich and successful that did in deed get there by blind luck I really doubt it is the case for the majority.

The desire for a fair and just system for everyone?

Again, you really need to define what you mean by fair, because it is somewhat subjective.

The board would be somewhat empty if people only discussed things they were experts in don't you think?

Of course, but my own understanding of the topics is significant enough that I can tell most (specifically most, not all) of this thread is inflammatory garbage. People would do well to try and get a better knowledge of the issues, rather than just knee-jerking as reaction to the first thought that pops in to their head!

Responding to the Chancellor's speech, Matthew Elliott, Chief Executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said:

"The Chancellor has utterly failed to face up to the horrific scale of Government borrowing and debt. There was a handful of tax holidays and spending cuts, but nothing to deal with the debt addiction which threatens to make Britain the next Greece. The public are crying out for serious and sizeable spending cuts to rebalance the books, but the Government is living in La-La Land. Large spending cuts are essential for taxpayers and for the health of the economy but Gordon Brown only knows how to spend more, not less. We need a real Budget after the election that faces up to the serious realities of our situation."

La-La Land ... so true :(

Of course it is, it is about politics, rationality goes out the window with politics it seems. I would say it was about economics but this budget was all about the politics.

I would agree with you other than the fact that this is GD, hardly anyone ever bothers to get a better knowledge of the issues and just knee jerks away. 8)
