I have a Toshiba tg01 which i have unlocked and put a Three (3G) sim card in.

I am trying to get the free windows live messenger and skype setup but for some reason it won't connect to either.

Does anyone have experience with this?

ive never had a problem with any of my windows phones? or symbian ones and they have never been from 3.

Try later, msn might just be playing up

I did, and they don't support the Toshiba TG01 phone :(.

Don't see why they would block it because when I go the SIM card (alone) it said that I could get free WLM and Skype.

I think to get free Windows Live Messenger and Skype, you have to use 3s OWN messenger and skype software. That would mean you can't just whack on any old Live Messenger or Skype client and expect it to work - it needs to be the one that 3 have released. And if they don't sell the phone you are using, they won't have a client that works with that phone. It may have all *completely* changed now however, but that was how it worked when I was with 3.

just use another msn client they dont use that much data. i used to use one on my wm6 handset never used any more than there free 150 mb a month allowance.

I'm using a debranded HTC Touch 2 on Three.

I have the official live messenger installed and I usually use it on the WLAN, but I just tested it on 3G and it works perfectly.

I checked my data usage on My3 before and after having a 10 minute conversation with someone and it remained unchanged, so I assume it's free then*.

What network was your TG01 on originally? and is it still branded? Do you have a 3G signal?

My Touch 2 was originally on T-Mobile, and I couldn't connect using 3G, it would only connect using 2G. After de-branding it, it then automatically configured itself to Three's settings and I was able to connect via 3G and browse My3, etc.

* = You may want to confirm this for yourself if you get it working.
