Sorry for the odd title, couldn't think of anything else :)

I've just sold my 27" iMac because i found myself using it as a monitor for my PC more than an actual mac. Obviously £2000 is a little OTT for a monitor so i've ditched it. I've reconnected my Dell 2209WA and it now looks *terrible*. It's dull, it's tiny, the colours suck etc. It's not faulty, im just used to the imac screen.

So....are there any monitors out there (at least 24") which might compare to the apple monitors ? The only game i play is WoW, the rest of my time is spent on the web / watching movies etc. I want a nice bright one :)

Any help appreciated

Apple cinema display;)?

I really don't think there's much that can touch the 27" unless you go for a high end NEC/DELL (or if you want to spend more money, eizo, lacie etc). How much are you looknig to spend?

This is what you want. Its not got a matte screen cover and a standard CCFL backlight, but it uses the same panel as the 27" iMac. From what I read its a very nice screen, though the input lag is a bit high, so not ideal for fast-paced gaming.

Its a shame that you didn't like the 2209WA much, I have used one and I think its pretty awesome for the money. Considering it costs 1/4 of the price of a U2711 its hardly fair to compare the two, coming down from a iMac will obviously feel like a step down. The e-IPS panel is not up to H-IPS standards, but compared to TN panels in the same price bracket it is rather nice.

If you don't want to spend as much, this and this use the same (H-IPS) panel as each other and are rather nice. However, bear in mind that there has been some tint issues with these (similar to issues with the 27in iMac if I remember) so it could be become a bit bothersome trying to get a perfect one. As you can see, these are only 24in.

This S-PVA monitor is a 27in. I have this one and I find it lovely to use, but coming from an H-IPS iMac it may feel like a step down in image quality and viewing angles (also the resolution is lower than the iMac, but the screen area is larger).

Thank you ! Over £900 for a monitor though

I used to love my 2209WA. Then it sat it a cupboard while i used the imac for 3 months and now when i use the 2209WA it looks rubbish compared to the apple screen.

The thing you're missing from the iMac is the glass cover. The actual display quality isn't all that at all. You're just used to the super sheen and vibrance the glass cover puts on it.

i didn't know u can use it as a monitor i mite get a 21.5 imac now! been looking for an led silver monitor for ages i give up!
