Supermarket Brands that are better than the real deal

Tesco finest chocolate chunk cookies are awesome.

However I have found no other crisp that beats Tescos own brand cheese and onion crisps so far. The amount of flavouring they put on them is just amazing! :D

Same goes for salt and vinegar too!

Aldi lucozade and red bull whatever they are called. Sainsburys but im sure most supermarket own jam tarts, like 20p for 6 yummy yummy fullo sugar jam tarts om nom.

Also tesco value crisps, the ones with like salt and vinegar sticks, onion rings and cheesey poofs are win !

Tesco's value Tomato Ketchup is actually much better than Heinz, it's a tad spicier and thicker, strange really as you'd have thought Heinz would be the master of making the perfect Tomato Ketchup

Another vote for Tesco Fruit & Fibre, although Morrisons Fruit & Fibre is just as good and similarly price. They are both far superior to the much more expensive 'official' version.

Beans and Sausage, I don't like Heinz's effort.

TBH I always find heinz beans a bit too spicey, however they are infinately better than the tesco beans, not so Sainsburys though, which are marginally better than Heinz.

Funny how most of the things in here seem to be the Finest range, which are usually more expensive than the branded goods.:p

OP, you should know the only thing you must always buy under a brand label is beans!

Value/own brand baked beans will always give you massive stomach and bowel movements, not worth the savings.

i do tend to agree with that, bachelors though are not to bad,

just a random thought after having endless bad luck with baked beans... (yes i love em) latest ones i tried were cross and blackwell, - big mistake 90% water i had to drain before serving - anyway starting me thinking what imitation or supermarket own brands do you prefer..

for me... Aldi - Titian Bars (mars bar) & Tesco fruit and fibre half the price and double the fruit! :D

Tesco Fruit and Fibre is super tasty. Much better than the rip off Kelloggs version...
I also like Tesco's rance of chilli sauces :p and on a bit of a side note, my wife swears Tesco's nappies are better than Pampers and Huggies*

*Of course I change nappies too bt don't notice a difference in quality. Also a testament to Tesco's brand I guess

Saw a programme about bottled orange juice, basically the cheap stuff from concentrate doesn't contain anywhere near as much vitamin C as fresh orange juice because they just dry out the oranges and keep it for a long time before making the juice, and the longer you wait the more vit C you lose.

I always get the cartons but maybe the point remains, either way I doubt I'll be short on vitamin C as I used to drink about 1L of orange juice a day so even if it wasn't as full of vitamin C as other brands it is still several times the minimum RDA.

My friend told me that tesco's do their own version of a snickers bar which is identical and half the price.

But its not. Its close but its a lot more sickly.

Tesco's premium dog food is as good as Bakers choice dog food though. Because its the same stuff only in a different bag. So at nearly half the price its a great deal.

Branston Ketchup > *

Agreed, their baked beans are by far the best as well. The least watery of any beans on the shelf. Normally with other brands I have to have them on the hob for 20 minutes on low to remove the water and thicken them up.

Branston beans are great straight from the tin.
