Ex-friend used my Debit Card

Don't be so sure. I had a mastercard and the exact same thing happened, well it was for an xbox gold account which he paid me back for not castle crushers. The card expired and I decided not to get a new one. I thought the account was closed but a month later I checked the balance and 60 quid had been taken off for a new xbox gold account.

These systems aren't flawless, when microsoft have your details they will manage to get your money :p

Guess I'll just let it go. No point stirring it up if I have no leg to stand on.

So you do the right thing and inform his partner that he's a cheating ****, so he no longer speaks to you. And yet you regret this?

And it is likely that he's stolen money from you, and you don't want to pursue it?

You should get "Welcome" stamped across your back.

Old cards stay active for quite a long period (offhand 160 days or so?) for recurring charges. No fraud, just bad luck, but if you can prove you weren't at his house at the time I'd definitely pursue him for the money if you very very much want to make a point.

I think you have to ask if £25 is worth stirring up the associated poo that would go with reporting this, regardless of how likely it is you would get your money back. Particularly since it appears that it's not even clear it was deliberate.

If I were you I'd mention to the guy that he needs to update his card details on Xbox Live, as your card was charged for his last transaction, and ask him for the money back. It's a bonus if you do, but unless you're exceedingly skint, is £25 worth the hassle it will cause?

it's happened to me too.

I let my friend use my card to buy some stuff on xbox and even though the card has been cancelled, i still get got charged for the occasional stuff. He always pays me back, so it's no problem but it's a bit annoying.

It's highly unlikely it has been cloned. I haven't really used this new card other than at Steam and ATM machines.

I do notice, however, that this new card has a VALID from of 04/10, though.

Does than mean the previous card still works, too?

ATM machines, perfect for cloning for one

And yes, if the other card is still within the expirery date, then both cards will work I believe

Also, if your card is still active for a good month or so, whats stopping him doing it again? Even if he doesn't realise.

Just ask him does he realise his XBox is still tied to his debit card? If he gets arsey about it pursue it in some mannor

It's only £25 yes, but whats to say he wont do something else? If he is indeed that silly...As its only £25 it probably is only a mistake :p

You told his GF he had been cheating? Bros before hoes you numpty

"Bros before hoes" is an utterly stupid phrase. It's not big, it's not cool and it doesn't make you tough.

If you're quite happy to allow that woman's suffering by prolonging his unjustifiable deception, then I pity whoever has the misfortune of being associated with you.

I'm just gonna let it drop. I have to live in the same village as this person and I can't be bothered with the hassle of it all just for the sake of 25 quid. Cancelled my cards so that should be the end of it.

Funny thing is I have his card details on my pc from when we ordered takeaway from JustEat lol. // No Swearing - Phil

I don't know what its like with your bank, but with mine (Natwest) when you get a new card, both cards will work until the first time you use the new card. after that the old card is invalid

If it's an out of date card and you immediately got it reissued then the new expiry date is often 3 years and one month after the old one. He could have guessed at this to make it work...?
