Paypal - seriously, what?

well if you never said in the listing CLEARLY that it was faulty you were in the wrong.

I would assume it was working unless you said it was faulty.. (however I would not big on anything saying sold as seen at the bottom as it screams scam)

It does help to read the entire thread before you accuse someone of trying to scam people.

The airbags on my Nissan have a warning sticker that states they should be replaced after 10 years. I'd expect BMW to make similar suggestions as to their life span so it may be worth going back to paypal pointing out it has less than 10% of it's useful life left.

I pointed this out. It has fallen on deaf ears.

So much for buyer protection. I'll remember to avoid paypal like the plague in future.

Its not so much paypal being bad, its more to do with the vagueness of the ebay's (or any 2nd hand site's) listing qualities and them being stuck with that. I've had things highlighted as used/scratched/marked etc and been in better quality than things marked as nearly new.

I could buy an item today chuck it about rub it in mud and thanks to the vagueness of ebay mark it up as nearly new or take another thing 10years old but has been looked after well/been in its box and do the same.

Its all to do with the seller either being cautious, overly courteous or less common, correct with the details or being a right **** and trying to get an easy sale or a few more pounds.

If it was a power seller, they normally run themselves as a business nowadays, if you kept the item description etc. it may be possible to pursue through the small claims courts. The fee depends on the size of the claim, the smallest being £50 I think and can all be done online.

As for paypal, I always try to get cash on collection on large items, as Paypal fee's are extortionate for small time sellers. I got clobbered for £12 fees selling my Plasma for £360, this is after other Ebay fee's.

Ebay is fast becoming a shop only zone. Almost no auctions anymore and just buy it now's all of the same price. Harder and harder to find a bargain.

To Fox: Have you tried FAB for your BMW parts, they are very good and have very good stock levels. BMW are an odd company, many engine parts are a few £££'s but you ask for a bit of rubber trim or something and they want 100's?
