I have pulled the muscles in my neck last night in the gym and am now walking round like robocop. Any movement is agony.

I am due to fly to New York Saturday morning and need some pain relief. I was wonder is this somethinga chiropractor could achieve (not a quick fix) but at least give me more movement in the neck. Or am i better in lots of rest and heat packs and anti inflamitry.

i remember when i pulled a mucsle in my neck, for a day or two i had random spikes of pain which was agony.

I just put a lot of deep heat on it, and someone to massage my neck and i was fine a couple of days later.

I still didn't want to turn my head too much after as i could feel that it wasn't properly healed, but after a week the pain went, i felt fully fine.

If it worries you, go see the chiropractor if you think it'll help, you don't want to go on holiday with a stiff neck.

I'd see a GP and ask if it was OK to go to a chiropractor, chiropractors can make certain conditions worse.

Either go and see a doctor or a physio, chiropractors are quacks. If you don't have time to see anybody proper then just rest it.

This may sound flippant, but from someone that has occasional back problems my advice would be go see your GP or private physio (private physio will cost you but will get it sorted) but don't take any advice from people on the internet :P

This is an oversimplification but a Chiro manipulates you / the area in question to achieve pain relief etc but doesn't really advise on how to be pro-active about curing. Phyisios tend to give advice on how to cure something long term with exercise, stretching etc...

Quite often here people who have "their" Chiro and go see them regularly... ££££... I always say go see a decent physio and they'll equip you with what you need to sort it by yourself with a bit of discipline :)

The chiropractor I saw after my car accident was more then helpful on how to cure the pain, and after my last appointment told me to "never come back".

I love going to see my chiropractor, quick couple of back cracks and I feel so refreshed.

Not sure it would help with a pulled neck muscle though?

Yeah I'm not anti-Chiro but it probably came across like that :)

It was more against the chiro that will encourage regular sessions but never actually curing what's wrong, in my case (bad back) things like posture, stretching, strengthening exercise where the treatment and chiro's aren't really experts in that area (not saying they don't know anything about it but you see what I mean)

Go to a doctors, at least for their opinion. Even if I were a doctor, (which I'm not) I doubt reading your symptoms is going to allow me to give you decent advice!
