Right guy I want to game at 1920x1080 and run my games max or near max (crysis etc) setting how much horse power do these cards (5850) possess in crossfire and would they struggle at the resolution I’m gaming at?? Also what are there general over clocking potential are they happy clockers??? Also are there any stuttering/problems at running these in crossfire???

Thanks....

i have 5850, you dont need crossfire to play max at 1920x1080, the only game out as of yet is crysis.. but you can get a steady 30-40fps on crysis at max.

Battlefield Bad Company 2, maximum settings @ 1920 is flawless. 4xmsa 2xasf
And AvP is exactly the same. all in dx11 too.
Dirt 2 same..
there is no game out that needs more juice to be honest.

The only reason to have crossfire with the 5000's is to have eyefinity with insane resolution, if thats your desire then 1 extra 5850 wouldnt harm.

This is truth!
I was pretty shocked with it's capability tbh, I'm one of those that never expects anyting to be quite as good as everyone says, but can't fault the 5850.

hmm you sure because my 295GTX struggled sometimes in crysis at that resolution and as I believe a 295 is faster than one of these... thought I be uber sure I wont be disappointed by the performance by crossfireing 2 of them...

It depends on the rest of your spec and what framrate you like. I don't like a rate that drops below 60 in fire fights and my 5850 certainly does that at 1080p with maxed settings.

It could also be slower CPU or even memory that's holding back your Frame rates... What's on your rig?

if you're playing Metro 2033 with an ATi card, you want as many of them as possible to get some decent fps with tessellation on :)

Also, two 5770s would be much more powerful in games that support crossfire than 1 5850.

But two 5850s would = 8xSSAA Goodness :p

see the link under my sig it will take you to my specs... the rest of my rig has more that enough power to not bottleneck my graphics card....

[edit] also how do 2 5850 in cross fire stack up againsed a 5970 performace wise???

Well why I agree that 1 card will do...

I game on a 22" monitor 1680*1050 (120hz) and found 2 x 5850 plays so much better.

So if you can afford 2 go for it

Also have not come accross any stuttering problems

:)
