Hi

I might be able to get my hands on an ASUS 2GB 5970 . Is it worth the upgrade from a 4870X2 ? I am on a i920 X 2.66GHZ at the moment with 6GB DDR3 and Windows 7 64

Anyone moved up to this card from a 4870X2 ?

Thanks
Martin

That will be quite a jump in performance. I think you'd do best to overclock that CPU though.

I very happy going from a 4870x2 to a 5870 so the move to a 5970 must be well worth it. I didn't get a 5970 as I don't plan on gaming any more than 1920x1200 which a 5870 handles just fine.
Go for it mate :)

I'm upgrading from a single 512MB 4870 to a Sapphire OC 5970. Delivery tracking is showing as expected tomorrow. I'm hoping for a substantial jump in performance as I've just built a new PC to put it in : HAF932, Corsair HX850, GAx58-UD7, Core i7 920 @ 4GHz, Noctua NH-U12P SE2, Corsair 6GB CL7, Blueray burner. Should be a tad better than my ol' Q6600. :)

You will see a hell of an improvement from your old card, which to be honest, was a good one in its own right! :) That new card will complement the your rig perfectly.

almost the same rig as me :D

you'll love the card dude

I was thinking of doing the same too as im running 4870's in crossfire. But i think im going to wait till im actually playing some dx11 games.

IMHO, your 4870x2 would still be able easily handle anything you throw at it...but it is only lacking the dx11 support in games. So unless you can sell you 4870x2 for a decent price (which I doubt), or if you are dying to play some particular games in dx11, or money is no matter, I would hold off the upgrade till the 2nd generation dx11 cards if I were you.
