Civic Type R owners and fuel usage

When I first got my CTR last year I regularly seen my tank go from full to empty in around 180 miles. My driving style has changed slightly now, but the VTEC is regularly used, and now I average around 230 miles to a full tank.

Best mpg I've had out of mine is 32 and that was after a 400mile round trip up to my works office with mixed driving. The worst I've seen is LOW teens, but that was over at the Nurburgring last year :D

You've bought the wrong car if you're looking for good fuel economy :p

more importantly, why are you going through £25 worth of fuel without VTEC? :D

i get about 34mpg with VTECing when safe to do so. DC2 though.

Mine(I have the FN2):

Long trips usually around 150 with VTEC and some motorway: 36ish
Normal driving to shops etc etc : 25mpg
Short trips or just going for a general drive around: <18mpg :p

50quid will get me around 300miles.

Must be. I don't think the facelift EP3 has an MPG display (I know my pre-facelift doesn't).

Mines a facelift and it doesn't have an MPG display so must be.

Didn't even realise he must have got those figures from a display, was in too much shock of a CTR hitting nearly 40mpg! :p

Yep FN2 stuck the cruise on and just had a half decent run, was surprised it got that high myself. Was showing 36.5 when I got home which considering to took me 40 minutes to do 10 miles to and from the office through heavy traffic thats not too bad.

Sorry to jump off topic but I am debating getting a Corolla T-sport. Would you recommend one? Do they have any common faults?

I would recommend one, as a cheaper alternative to a CTR. Its not in the same league handling wise, its a bit soft. They really need a drop from standard (they sit like tractors lol!) which I've heard helps the soft handling a LOT. It is however, slightly more comfortable and a lot more affordable. Straight line speed are much the same, until you get over 90 ish when the CTRs displacement and torque pull it away.

Read this thread at your peril. I like to think I defended myself and my choice valiantly and factually, alas the CTS is not on OcUKs list of acceptable cars :(.

Great forum for info....

I've not had chance to post pics of my CTR yet due to the weather been crap.

I'm now realising how expensive to run these things can be. I put in £25 of vpower fuel and done around 130 miles. This was without vtec'in it.

Is this normal? It just seems to drink lots of fuel.

someone with a civic type r said this to me the other day but tbh that not worlds apart from what I get in my fiesta which is about 20 quid for 130 miles
