Can anyone tell me what kind of annual premium I could expect on a 5-person shared student house in Sheffield? Standard stuff covered.

About £80 or so for the year. Not including Bike, laptop, phone cover

If people were using laptops as desktop workstations, would these still required additional cover?

If you wanted it to be replaced if it got stolen, then yes.

Saxon Insurance cost me around £60 for the year, includign laptop anywhere in the country. Southampton.

Yes, they seem to be much better. Putting the laptop into the equation seems to be taking premiums over £100 everywhere else. :/

If your room has a lockable door, you might be covered under your parents home insurance policy. If not, your laptop still might be covered under their policy, so you can just get normal insurance. The latter is what I did and it was dirt cheap.
