You wont need a powerful card to play UT3, 2nd hand 8800GT would suit

Depends what you need, 8800GT will be fine with no AA, GTX260 or simalar will offer same or better performance with 4XAA.

Well I got two ATI cards and owned ATI since the 9xxx (not Nvidia) while Nv failed with the FX and not had many problems if any....


reason why I didn't have No Nv cards was because they was too expensive around here

Most sub £50 cards will play UT3 fine.

What is your PSU and case?

I ask because the 9800gx2 is a rather power hungry card (2x G92 GPUs onboard), so it will need a decent PSU. As for the case, the 9800GX2 is rather long (10.5 inches I believe), not all cases can accommodate it.

If it is watercooled, I assume you have a decent watercooling loop you will be plugging it into.

Highest you need
ati 5770 if you want ati
260gtx for nvidia

Lowest you need
Nvidia 9800GT or gtx or x2
ATI 4870. Doesnt have dx11 incase you buy a dx11 game but will definatly play it for less than the 5770. about same performance.

anyway, 9800gx2 is a great card, especially for £30, it will rip UT3 apart. All is well that ends well.
With all the extras they added to this game it got quite good. Check out Alien Vehicle capture the flag - there's crazy spider things, you can turn into gun turrets, soime real war of the worlds ish, good stuff.

my E5200 @ 3.6Ghz and 4870x2 used to demolish UT3 with everything on max i reckon to play it nice u will want to look around 4850 or 4870 or a GTX260 for 22" since its 1980x1080 then depends how high u want AA on etc

UT3 likes CPU power. Overclock your CPU if possible and couple it with a half decent card and you should get admirable performance.
