can you crossfire a 5870 with a 5850?..

Im reciving a new 5850 from an RMA of a 4870x2 only problem is i have a 5870 allready (couldnt be arsed waiting for them to replace it) Ive read a few places 5850 can be crossfired with the 5870 and other places say you cant. Any idea? or should i just sell it and spend the money on something else (a trip to chedder )

Afaik you cant, only a 5870 can be xfired with another 5870 or a 5970 giving you 3 in Trifire.

You can crossfire them yea but the performance would be like 2x5850s as far as i know so the extra grunt that the 5870 offers would be wasted. That config would still be a lot faster than the x2 tho so i would do it if that were me.
