Civic Type R owners and fuel usage

Quoted figures are 31 mpg for the CTR so I would say OP is getting quoted figures almost, still can't understand why you bought a hot hatch and expected to get good economy, the two just don't go together.

that's about right, I normally fill up £20 worth of super unleaded and get between 100-120 mpg.

You seriously think you get 100mpg unless you are talking about a scooter (which wouldn't take £20 anyway) you must be smoking the good stuff aahahaha

I would recommend one, as a cheaper alternative to a CTR. Its not in the same league handling wise, its a bit soft. They really need a drop from standard (they sit like tractors lol!) which I've heard helps the soft handling a LOT. It is however, slightly more comfortable and a lot more affordable. Straight line speed are much the same, until you get over 90 ish when the CTRs displacement and torque pull it away.

Read this thread at your peril. I like to think I defended myself and my choice valiantly and factually, alas the CTS is not on OcUKs list of acceptable cars :(.

Great forum for info....

That's great, thanks for the info. From what I have read they are a little softer than the CTR but it seems you can get a much better and newer example CTS for a great deal cheaper.

Anyway sorry for the OT

As already said, that sounds about right. I think I used to get just over 200 miles to a tank in my old CTR

I stopped tracking how much fuel I use in my DC5 about a week after I bought it. I just fill it up when it's empty. It depresses me if I work it out so I just don't bother.

On my work commute through the first 2 tanks of fuel I managed to get about 370miles out of the tank which i believe equates to about 28mpg, pretty good I thought :) I'm sure my MR2 would get that even when hammering it though!

I think it is quite clear he meant £20 gets 100-120 MILES. Not that difficult to work out, was it?

I get about 250 ish from my Teg I think. I do mainly town driving and raggin' it on back roads so not too shabby for a performance car!
