I want a case that looks good and is cool
I origninally thought about the antec 300 but some people say it is noisy
are there any other cases that come recommended?

Unfortunately prices have shot up in the last year. The 300 is still a great case, and you could always replace the fans for something better.

Alternatively, there is this, which I believe comes with a fan controller. Zalman make great quality stuff, but I haven't read a review for that case yet. Certainly seems interesting for the price though.

You could also look at some of the coolermaster cases, which are highly regarded in the budget end.

Go second hand for some real bargains though. If you get your postcount up you can browse the OcUK members market for something.

It doesn't come with particularly good fans, but they can be replaced if you find them too much. Try setting them to low and see if your temps and noise are acceptable. Cheapest low noise designed case is a Coolermaster Silo, available for about £52+VAT with a little look around.

I'd have to say the Antec 300. Had mine since last Sept or Oct and love it :)

Some dust guard/filters would be great, but not sure if any exist for the case tho.

i really like that zalman case btw.
Thanks

It's quite new, I have yet to see it reviewed, but Zalman have a great reputation and I'm sure it's a quality bit of kit.

alex if i dont mind my fans being on 100% is it worth getting the plus version of that zalman? as the only benfit is a fan controller

Well it depends on the fans you get with it too, and how loud they are (you get two extra side fans with the plus I think). Personally, I have a P182SE, and even with low RPM case fans, I still use a fan controller to turn them down when I want quiet and am not gaming. It gives a nice extra flexibility to the system, though it's only two channel, and you may find yourself adding a proper controller later (such as the ZM-MFC1+ -I highly reccomend it!). The plus version also has an esata front port. I guess it depends on your needs. Personally, I'd buy the cheaper one and a Zalman fan controller separately, then add some quality fans as needed. Should still be around budget.

Go here for the official specs on both cases, and here for a review of the plus version - it does very well indeed.
