Had this one in queue for edit, not entirely sure if I like it, but its slowly growing on me though. For those thinking its a real giant Eagle, its not its a statue.

Click pic for bigger version or click here without watermarking, or here on black

I think everyone was expecting the feather-y kind !

I much prefer it without the watermark - my eyes were drawn to it.

Haha! Every time without fail, the comments is always about the watermark?! :(

Perhaps there is something to learn here.
Yet again, the watermark is distracting viewers form the photographic subject.

Viewing on you website is much better. For me the photo doesn't really do the subject justice. Its not prominent enough for me, not obvious there is an interesting statue, and the angle doesn't help in my viewing.

Ive linked it to a non watermarked version in all my threads, if its really such a big thing

Maybe try and learn to get past that? I dont complain when I see watermarks, since its not the picture, which I seem to be confused that you guys are very easily distracted by it...

To your edit: Funny you say its isnt prominent for you, and some people have been saying it stands out a tad to much.. lol

Well, one way I look at photos is to shut my eyes for 10 seconds and then slowly open them. I take note of what my eyes first see and the path my eyes take over the photo and how long I spend at different parts of the photo. With a good photo I will immediately be taken to an interesting part and there will often be some easy path to follow such as leading lines, a nice S-curve or simply a compositional balance which makes the viewer take in the whole image.

Another technique is to blur my eyes slightly to find the structure of the image. Doing this to your image brings the watermark as a main feature.
With a giant great watermark that is one of the first things I see and is one of the most prominent in your image.
Especially the way your subject (statue) takes up a small part and you have a large relatively blank area (which is good). this blank area should remain blank, otherwise it looks like water mark is some advertising piece, or an ad campain, a presentation slide. With your photos I half expect to see a list of credits for some 2nd world war movie. Instead there is an over sized water mark which looks very unprofessional.

I'm sorry, but I cannot enjoy the photo the way it is intended with that obvious water mark.

Thanks :)

Funny you should point out/mention you expect a list of credits to some WWII movie. When I take a photo I normally think of it as a scene from a film or a moment a film :)

I think it's more a case of people already having said what one wants to say. I like the fact you've processed it into a monochrome image –*I don't think it would've worked so much in colour, especially with the noise.

I was expecting the feathery kind of eagle though... :-/

Oh and Mr. D.P –*nice tips. Must/will try them. :)

From this forum I usually take that to mean people don't like it :p

Or that its so awesome that people are too scared to say anything :p

Not naming anyone (not that I remember anyway), but there are some pretty bad photos in here that graces more comments then views, this is another thing I dont get from this forum.

My eagle might beat yours for size but my photos are not as good as yours :)

I took these before i got into photography properly.

Where the hell is that? The 2nd pic is pretty good tbh and 3rd pic looks good if you took it again. :)

I took them on a lsland called Langkawi off Malaysia, there are eagles flying all over the place there. I would love to go back, now i have better kit. But i dont think ill be as lucky to catch it just before the storm again. Im going back to Malaysia again in November, but not to Langkawi.
