New 120mm fans For Watercooling

I went from the Scythe to the Yate Loon and found the YL to be quieter. I'd be interested to try some of the Gentle Typhoon 1450rpm fans on a fan controller.

I bought a 1450 scythe gentle typhoon with the hopes of running it 100% at no noise, this is not possible, they are actually fairly noisy, might be the bearing, but they are not silent

Doing it again I would get an apache or a noctua

Sorry but I have 3 of these on my Rad and they are on full speed and they are the quietest fans I own. Even more quiet than my Noctua's

I went with the "Apache Black Super Silent". should have arrived today, but missed the deadlline for post so hopefully be here tomorrow.
When i say the yate loons are loud, they are the loudiest thing in my pc now, and want a quiter pc. Ive had them 2 years now so it about time they were changed, they still do the job that they were bought for.

Enermax Magma :D
High CFM @ 69.15 and run @ 18BdA

Apache better more silent but the Magma's are still good fans very good for case cooling:)

the thing with fans is that all the specs lie, i have spent near to £400 on different fans (prob a bit more) and the one make i have found to be the best are Yate loons, can get then for £3.50, they are a fan, they move air, there cheap....get the 2100/2200 versions (i haven't used the 38mm version)and get a fan controller with the money you have saved.
it annoys me a bit when people recommend fans that cost £15 because they believe the manufacturers claims, the only reason for paying that sort of money is to get a fan that suits the "look" you are going for.

From this thread i have used scythe (nearly the whole range avoid the 800 rpm version would be better training insects to fart in the general direction of your case), noctuas, Apaches and the enermax, and the yate loon pushes the most air (closely followed by the scythe juani 2100s. Its obvious that a fan needs to spin fast to push a lot of air.

And there's no way the magna has a CFM of 69 :(

I used to run yate loons as case fans, fantastic price and shifted a lot of air, not that noisy at all either, im actually considering replacing my 2 140mm intakes and 2 120mm exhaust fans on my lian li a70f case with yate's. Im also gonna be going to a watercooled setup soon and may go with yate loons on a triple rad.

the Yates are not silent, but to get silent you need "slow", and the fact is slow means not as much CFM...

Sayso, have you tried any yate loon 140's, if so how did you find them. Ive only ever used 120mm fans, this new case has 2 x 140mm intakes, noise wise theyre not too bad, but theyre blue led fans which can be rather distracing, particularly when watching a movie, yate loon 140's being black would certainly be more subtle.

Setter, ive never tried any 140s as ive never had a case to put them in (or a 140 RAD), they are only about £6 so i would say get one and try it out.

I swapped the 120 and 140mm fans in my PC-P50B for 120/140mm Yate Loons. They are decent fans, reasonably quiet and shift a decent amount of air. The 120mm's are turned down to 660rpm and the 140mm's are turned down to 600rpm. At this speed they are just about silent while still maintaining a half decent airflow. Like is said earlier, i also have the 120x38mm YL's on my external rad. They are decent fans at a good price. How companies can charge £12, £15 or even £24 in the case of the Feser fans is beyond me.

I use 3 Yate Loon D12SL-12, front/rear/cpu fan I wonder if the 1450rpm Gentle Typhoons would be quieter OR the 1150rpm Gentle Typhoons would shift as much Air as the Yate Loon D12SL-12 ?

Thanks sayso, i might get a couple of yate 140's for intakes and give them a try, theyre well priced so it's not a big outlay, i even expect theyll be better than the stock lian li fans.:)
