Orange Broadband FUP?

So I just got a warning from Orange broadband because my average peak time usage for the last two months was 6.3Gb per month. Wow - big deal. That's what, 1 maybe 2 games from Steam?

Does anyone know what the actual limit for an Orange 'Unlimited' account is? I have asked Orange but no reply yet....maybe they don't know either!

If I decide to change who would you recommend - I don't have a lot of choice here as there's no fiber or cable TV services. I was thinking maybe o2? The reviews I've read say that they're pretty relaxed about usage.

Any advice welcome chaps!

Thanks.

ORANGE LIMIT OF 5Gb DOWNLOAD DURING PEAK TIMES

The End User Speed Control (also known as EUSC) is where a line speed
restriction of 512kbps is applied to a customer's line during peak hours
(18:00pm to 12:00am, 7 days a week).

This restriction targets customers who are in breach of our Fair Usage
Policy, i.e. downloading over an average of 5Gb of data in two
consecutive months at peak times. This congests the network and heavily
affects the performance of our internet service for other broadband
users, at peak times.

It looks like a 5Gb limit during peak times (6pm to midnight) in two
consecutive months.

I looked on Orange website and NOTHING about what the Gb peak time limit is.

I know I won't EVER go with Orange after reading their fair usage policy.

that doesnt sound very fair at all lol.

multiple users in one house could do that in one day along.

I got same letter last week and considering they doubled my monthly fee from £10 to £20 4 months ago, that was enough for me to call and ask for my mac code and change to new ISP, Be broadband from 30th march.

Told i used 9.6gb jan-feb so they have slowed my internet until i lowered my usage.
Unlimited my arse.
Been with them for years, then go over for 1 month and they do that. F- em i say.

On upto 8mb,get 5-6mb,but been limited for last 4 weeks to around 2-3mb by orange.

Be Broadband = £3 pm less for unlimited upto 24mb(est 10-13mbp)

Thanks guys. It's really a pain to be thinking about how much bandwidth you're using all the time. Orange haven't actually limited my connection yet - if and when they do I will be on the phone for a MAC. This limit is unacceptable for a so called 'unlimited' account.

@silverback - yep, I've been with them since they were Freeserve! So much for loyalty being rewarded eh?

Regards o2 - anyone here any experience with them? Is the switchover from one ISP to another simple? If I go with o2 can I use my existing Cisco router? Sorry for the questions but have never actually changed ISP before!

Been with o2 for over 12 months now, fantastic service, no complaints. UK call centres if you have a problem are a bonus. You will get a new router from o2 when you sign up.

I was kept informed all the time by text updates at every stage of the process.

Once you get your MAC code simply phone o2 (or go to their website) give them the MAC code and they do the rest.
